Hello! I am post-op for almost 3 years and I stop taking the fusion bariatric vitamin when I could eat regular food again. I am wanting to increase my energy and I think vitamins may be the way to go. Can someone tell me if I can take a regular Men's Multivitamin or do I need to take a bariatric vitamin??

I'm not a guy but my surgeon's office gave a list of acceptable vitamins that they said were as good as bariatric vitamins but less expensive. Centrum was on the list and the dosage is 2 daily. Also 1200 mg of calcium and B12. The nutritionist told me the biggest mistake some gastric bypass patients make is to think they can do well without their supplements after a time. She said it will cause damage to the body and enough essential nutrients cannot be absorbed by diet alone. She told me vitamin and mineral supplements must be taken for a lifetime.

Good Luck,

Cheyenne

Is it any Centrum multi vitamin?

Folks, take your vitamins and don't take over the counter stuff. You will not absorb it. Take vitamins that are for bariatric patients. You should get capsules and open them and put them into a shake or something you can drink, or take liquid vitamins. I have also seen vitamin patches on line. I had my RNY 21 years ago and suffering from malnutrition right now, mostly because things have changed so much from when I had my surgery, I just basically didn't know any better, and thats my own fault. I should have stayed up with a bariatric doctor after my doctor retired. Gummy vitamins and calcium wont cut it either. Buy the good stuff and stay healthy

I use vitamins and some other healthy energy products that have majorly increased my energy levels and they are healthy unlike many of the other products out there.... If you want more info you can call me 4028830107

You should be taking either a liquid vitamin or a capsule that you can open and dump into a shake or else you won't absorb it well or maybe not at all.

My doctor told me to take the gummy vitamins, so they can't all be so bad to take. I get labs done in April to check on my nutrition and vitamin levels so I guess I'll find out then if they are working.

I've seen patients with those ones. What flavor are they? I can't tolerate the cherry flavor so I found a Walgreens brand of multivitamin's that are berry flavored.
They are kinda fruity flavor I guess.... not enough taste to really notice but just enough to not be plain..... I take 2 aday in the am and in the afternoon

I take Celebrate Multivitamins, once a day. Also take calcium 3 times a day and Prilosec once a day. The Prilosec I can stop after 6 months, the doctor said. The multivitamin and calcium are for life. I hate taking pills but I take them. The calcium is actually a powder and mixes well in anything.
