Protein shakes

Getting discouraged. I thought I had the perfect chocolate shake based on reviews of it. Decided to try it out even though I haven't had surgery yet. Doesn't taste as good as I had hoped. I'm now buying a sample pack from Unjury. I hope I will find one of those to be tasty. I've also been told that I can put sugar free flavored coffee sweeteners in the shakes. I think I will also try that. I HAVE to find something I can use for my 2 weeks of shake only diet. I almost failed last time. Crossing my fingers.

I found that after gastric sleeve surgery my taste buds had changed. What tasted great before surgery now tasted different. I had two different protein shake mixes that I purchased before surgery that are now sitting in my pantry drawing dust. I tried them after surgery and can't stand the taste.

That's not good news since I'm already having troubles finding one I like. What are you using now?

I'm using Premier Protein Shakes and powder. Bought a book off of Amazon which has plenty of protein shake recipes that I'm eager to try. The book was by the Bariatric Foodie.....but I don't recall the title.

You are welcome. Don't stress about them rescheduling your surgery. The surgery day will be here before you know it. Keep in touch. I'd love to hear of your progress.

here is the book I referred to early.

I'm a little over 3 years post op. I've lost almost 60 pounds but am at a plateau. I actually fell off the weight loss train but now I'm back on track. After your surgery the most important thing to remember is that you most eat protein first! I also purchased a tub of vanilla Premier Protein powder so I'm going to be trying out some of those protein shakes in the book.

I will make sure I do that. Thanks for the advise. Did you get the powder at Wal Mart? All I could see were the pre made shakes.

If you bought your protein shakes from a health food store, they will let you return them and choose another. The health food stores also will give you samples of any shake. My surgery is November 18th. Keep up the good work! :)
Hi Delrae. I didn't realize that about the health food stores. I have some samples from Unjury shakes coming today. If they don't work, I have found that I like premier shakes. I will get their powder. What type of surgery are you having? I'm having gastric bypass.

Got my Unjury shake samples right after I had a Premier for breakfast. May have to try one of the samples later.

Already posted this earlier, but thought I'd post it here in the original message thread. The Unjury chocolate and vanilla shakes were good. $23 for 17 servings. Will have to get 3 tubs for dprotein shake diet. Also going to get an extra one for after surgery. $6.95 flat rate shipping for UPS. Can't complain about that.

I couldn't handle the Bariatric Advantage shakes they gave me. As an alternative, they recommended EAS Myoplex lite and Boost Calorie Smart. I've tried both and found I tolerate them pretty well. I still get tired of the sweet taste in my mouth all the time though. But if I have a cup of broth before or after each shake, it really helps.
