Protein shakes

Well, 4 days post op and no pain. I was really dreading the pain but I haven't had any the last 2 days. I pain mess but haven't had to use it yet. I am drinking alot of water and Muscle Milk shakes. So far so good. I have my first post op followup on the 19th. Then I can start eating soft foods. Looking forward to that.

That is great! Glad to hear you are off to a good start. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 31 and I've been worried about the pain because I am a big baby when it comes to pain tolerance. So I'm glad you posted about your pain experience. Good luck continuing on your journey.

I like the Bananas n Cream Premier Advantage protein shakes. I got mine at Costco, $20 for 18. Also like the chocolate and strawberries n cream. I got the strawberries n cream at Sam's but I don't remember how much they are, somewhere around $20. I have been making my own meal replacement shakes with vanilla Bariatric Advantage powder. I add a chunk of frozen banana, some caramel sugar free syrup, water and some ice. They are really good. I'm going to buy some powder peanut butter tomorrow and see what that tastes like. I will start adding fruit next, I think. I haven't weighed since right before my surgery. My stomach is still swollen. My doctor said the swelling would go down in 4-7 days. It is better than it was but still swollen some. I may weigh myself in the morning. I'm curious. I am so glad I didn't listen to some of my friends and went ahead with the surgery. No issues so far.

Getting discouraged. I thought I had the perfect chocolate shake based on reviews of it. Decided to try it out even though I haven't had surgery yet. Doesn't taste as good as I had hoped. I'm now buying a sample pack from Unjury. I hope I will find one of those to be tasty. I've also been told that I can put sugar free flavored coffee sweeteners in the shakes. I think I will also try that. I HAVE to find something I can use for my 2 weeks of shake only diet. I almost failed last time. Crossing my fingers.[/

I absolutely love the Bariatric Advantage meal replacement powedered shakes. Vanilla is my favorite. and use a shake blender adding crushed ice and water.

I discovered that I couldn't tolerate Unjury Powder shakes. They literally made me sick. I tried many different shakes until I was told by the Bariatric Surgeon's office to try Myoplex EAS. You can buy it preprepared or in powder form. It worked for me. You can also try EAS Advantage, which is from the same company but lower calorie. Both of these really helped me before and after the surgery. Good luck! Let us know how you are doing.

This was a really old post. Not sure how it became active again. Wasn't able to stomach Unjury shakes beyond the two week shake only diet right before surgery. I've been using Premier Protein Shakes and they seem to be doing the trick. Had surgery on 12/6/16, so I've obviously survived. LOL

I tried several flavors of their shakes and I got terribly ill from them. Lasted 1 1/2 weeks on them and that was it. I'm glad they work for you as they are a very good shake protein wise. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I had mine on 12/6/16 and it was the best thing I could have done.

I'm using Premier Protein Shakes and powder. Bought a book off of Amazon which has plenty of protein shake recipes that I'm eager to try. The book was by the Bariatric Foodie.....but I don't recall the title.
Hi Tamara,
That's the brand I just bought...and am loving it. I'm pre-surgery...so hope to still enjoy it afterwards too. For a change up (as it is vanilla)...I add some flavorings...like Almond..and it makes it taste like an entirely different drink!
