My problem with diabetes is when I eat like I'm supposed to my sugar drops way low. Once it was low as 49. I want to lose weight but it seems I have to keep eating peanut butter crackers way too often. I don't even like peanut butter. Eating healthy is a challenge when it comes to low blood sugar. Suggestions?

Are you still taking your medicine for diabetes? I read somewhere that you have to talk to you regular doctor regarding being on your pre - op diet so your meds are adjusted appropriately. My mom is diabetic...49 Is dangerously low!

Hi. I am no longer on diabetes meds. When I was taking metformin it was because my sugar was high. Then when it started going low, my doc took me off. It still goes low without it. I guess I have to eat more often throughout the day to keep it balanced.

Protein drinks and Greek yogurt got me through my liws and they're full of protein!

I have lows as well. My endocrinologist suggested milk since it has both protein and a little sugar. After it goes up you need to eat or I find drinking a protein shake like premier which has a lower carb count helps level it off. I’ve tried lots of things to get these levels up but most things like juice, ice cream etc. give me dumping syndrome which is awful.
