Have a surgery date....!!!

Got the call yesterday. Surgery is scheduled in 3 weeks. That will make it approximately 8 weeks since I started the path to surgery. Both excited and nervous. I have done a tremondous amount of research, but, still feel unprepared. Appreciate so much all the insight and encouragement this forum and it's members have given me.

Well, surgery date is now on hold as it seems I have gallstones. My surgeon wants to remove the gallbladder first and then go back 4 weeks later to do the bypass. Gallbladder surgery is scheduled for next wednesday. I guess it will have to be one step at a time. : - (

I had my gall bladder removed at the same time... Well actually I had my sleeve done, my gall bladder out and a hiatal hernia done at the same time..... It can be done and is done frequently. No need to go back for a second surgery. I realize it is your surgeon's choice but ask if he/she would reconsider. The recovery is the same, just a couple extra puncture holes
on second thought I had a sleeve and I see you are having a bypass... that may be the difference

I had the gastric bypass and my gall bladder was removed at the same time.

I'm sorry your date was postponed. At least they caught the gallstones. My first surgery date was cancelled the day before surgery as it was decided a stress test was needed. I had gone through the 2 week protein shake diet, barely and dreaded having to do it again. Surgery rescheduled for 7 weeks out. So see, it could be worse. Lol

Wow, that had to be taught Christine. I'm sure you had to remain focus on your why.

It was tough. Unfortunately I took the reasoning of “I’ll never eat this again so why not now”. I didn’t gain any weight, but I didn’t lose any either. I had lost 20# up until then.
