That is awesome Christine! I can not imagine twice as fast at the moment...totally inspiring, thank you! :)

Thanks Pixx. What do you do for exercise?

Currently I'm walking on an underwater treadmill 5-6 days a week, and on Mon/Wed/Fri I attend an underwater Zumba class. I am waiting until I see the surgeon this month to get approval to start lifting underwater weights. I'm still restricted to no more than 5 lbs. at the moment. I started off at 1.5 mph when I began and am at 2.8 mph now, hoping to be able to walk the full 2 miles in 30 minutes is my goal, but I know I would need to speed things up and I am not quite ready for that just yet! :D

Underwater exercising sounds like fun. You are way faster than me! I started at .8 MPH and I’m now at 1.6. I’m going to see if I can go faster when I get back in the gym, hopefully tomorrow. I’ve been out the past 2 days with a migraine. I’m going to also ride the recumbent bike and use the Nautilus equipment. I need to try to get rid of some of the flabbiness in my arms.

I actually think if I were using a land treadmill I would be right along side you in mph, but with the water taking the impact out of everything I have been able to speed things up. I haven't gotten brave enough to enter the actual gym with all its equipment :p I wouldn't know where to begin, I don't know what Nautilus equipment is o_O I know how you feel though when you can't go to the gym, I've 'tweaked' my knee twice in the past few months and it put me out for several days each time, which is so frustrating!

Nautilus equipment is the strength training/weight lifting equipment. No free weights for this girl. I haven’t started using it yet, but plan on incorporating it in to my workouts at least 3 times a week next week. They have machines that mimic sit-ups and work on your upper arms. Both areas that I need some help on. I hate when you tweak your knee. Anything that knocks you out of working out sucks. I thought I was going to make it to the gym this morning, but this migraine is affecting my vision, so driving is not a good thing. I am going next week come hell or high water. Just glad this first month’s membership was only $1. :) I had bought myself a treadmill so I could workout regardless as I had 3 months of constant migraines this summer and got tired of not doing anything. That was a big flop as the treadmill was a piece of crap. I ended up returning it.

Okay, so the idea of sit-ups is rough. I'm not sure I could do that right now. I get sore with what I am doing now but maybe a few months down the road. Sucks that the treadmill didn't work out for you. :(

t took a while before I could even think of doing sit ups that’s for sure. Now, everything is back to normal. It is amazing how long it takes to heal from surgery, but I guess they do do a lot of damage to our bodies while they are in there. How often do you exercise?

I kind of made a deal in my head that if I was going to pay for a gym membership, I would go everyday after work, typically 5 days a week. Well we are a bit short handed at work at the moment, so I'm not sure that was the best deal! o_O But I've been working 10-12 days in a row before getting a day off, so I've been working out 6 days a week for nearly a month. The gym is closed on Sundays, my saving grace! :p Anyway, when things improve I'll hopefully be on a routine 5 days a week workout schedule. :)

Wow! You’ve been working your butt off at work and the gym. Good for you! Glad you get Sunday’s off.

Finally made it back to the gym. Bumped speed on treadmill from 1.6 mph to 2.3. Incline still at 0. Walked for 30 minutes. Don’t ever plan on getting to the point of jogging as I’m a big klutz, but when I get almost to that point speed wise, I will start increasing the incline. I am also hoping to give the elliptical machine a whirl, but that might be a big joke.

Ugh, I do hope you feel better soon, I had a surprise party for my husband today, and then I played three games of bowling, that was my exercise for the day, and I did get 12000 steps in today
Wow 12000! I'm two months post-op and only up to 6000 steps. I walk three days a week but know I need to do more. So your 12000 is awsome. And have encouraged me to up my steps. Tks.

I’m just 5 days post op so I’m only doing light walking around the house every hour or so. When did you all start using the treadmill? I am still quite sore so I am scared to start on it right now.

I started a full 6 weeks after surgery. I knew I was going to be underwater so I wanted to make sure the incisions were healed properly and there was no risk of infection by getting in a pool. I'm not sure what the restrictions are for sleeve vs. bypass or if there are any? I wasn't allowed to lift more than 5 lbs. in the first 2 months afterwards, so I only walked when I first started exercising.

I don't remember when I started the treadmill after surgery, I know it wasn't right away, like you I just took little walks around the house and then when I was feeling up to it I would do like five minutes on the treadmill, worked myself up, you just have to go slow and easy

While hubby and I waited for my daughter’s car to be worked on, we went to 2 HUGE malls and walked. Too rainy to walk outside. Got 2.95 miles in, plus I got 3 new sweaters. I got them all from a store that the largest size is XL (which is my size). It felt so good to shop at a non plus size store.

Today I walked on the treadmill and went 1.36 miles. When I got home, my Husky puppy decided to give me some exercise by going in and out of the house repeatedly. She has never experienced freezing temperatures, so her fuzzy body is enjoying it. I just wish she’d stay out there!
