Hi, my name is Sherry. I had my gastric bypass surgery on June 12, 2017. So far I have lost almost 100lbs. I have seven more pounds to lose, to be down 100. The other day I was weighing and the scale said I gained 5 pounds over night. I was like 'No Way'! Then I felt something on the back of my leg and my cat had his paws on the scales. LOL! Bad Kitty! If you need someone to talk to give me a shout out.

Hi Mary, Don't get discouraged. Everybody looses differently. A lot of it has to do with how much your weight was before. The heavier you are, it seems like you lose faster. I had the gastric bypass surgery instead of the sleeve. You lose more and faster with the bypass. That's what my dr.told me. Make sure you have your protein first and then vegetable. I have 3 ounces of protein and 1 ounce of veggie. Make sure you follow your doctor's diet. Talk to the dietitian and get her advice. I had to write down everything I ate and drank and took it back to my follow up appointment with the dietitian. We went over it to see where I needed to improve or was ok. Make sure you drink your 64 ounces of water daily. I know it's hard, but necessary. Protein shakes are good. Hope this helps you. Remember everyone is different. Hang in there and soon the pounds will start melting away. Happy Losing!

Hi. I'm Carolyn. I had my surgery on the 21st of August and lost 37lbs. I think it's a good start. I don't want to move too fast cause I hear if you exercise and lose at a certain pace you won't have loose skin. I'm trying to find that pace. I think you are doing well! Please don't be discouraged. Try to stick to the plan and it'll come off. They say you'll lose a certain percentage a year....

Hi there. Congrats on your choice to start you health care journey. It really is about taking care of yourself and not always the # on the scale. I'm learning it's not a race, but a marathon. Pat yourself on the back for taking the step to so something positive about your weight.

Hi. Sherry tks for your encouragement. I'm going to keep up the walking and work on getting in more water and protein. Though I'm still having problems feeling full and eating every two hours it's very hard to get the food in.

Hi Mary. As everyone has said, we all lose weight at a different pace. There are so many factors that effect it. I’m on a ton of meds. 4 of them have a side effect of weight gain. They are a large reason why I needed gastric bypass surgery. Unfortunately they are still affecting me in that my weight loss is slower than most. My surgery was 10 months ago and I am only down 133#. I bet you will be way ahead of me at the 10 month mark. Also, as someone said, the heavier you are, the faster you lose and the type of surgery you have affects how fast you lose too. It all boils down to hanging in there. Get that protein and fluids in and do your exercising. That weight will come off. If I can lose it, so can you. ;)

Went to the doctor yesterday and he was really pleased with the weight I have lost. He and the nutritionist said I was rocking and rolling along. They were really proud of me. I was so happy to hear that. 4 more pounds and I will have lost 100 pounds since my gastric bypass surgery June 12, 2017. I really needed to hear them say that, because I thought I wasn't losing enough. I am so happy!!

You are doing so awesome! I am jealous. I am 10 months out, but only down 133#.

Me too Christine, on the jealous factor. Sherry had surgery exactly one week before me and I'm only at 72lbs lost. Granted I've had some unforeseen side effects and issues, but still...loving her progress! :D I guess that makes it a love/hate thing eh? I know...I know...I'm not really supposed to compare my journey to others, I'm totally guilty this time! :p Maybe I'll just use her as my inspiration instead. Awesome job Sherry! Keep up the good work!
