Hi! < stellar opening. :)
I’m Melissa. I decided to have the gastric sleeve surgery a few months ago. So I’m still in the process of doing all the pre fun stuff. I was also told, as I see many of you were, to lose some weight on my own first. Not for insurance, they aren’t paying a dime of this, but just to get on a healthy track. And to be honest, I started off great. But now I find myself slipping back to old Mel ways. Feeling sad, feeling lonely, and using food to temporarily make me feel better until the guilt kicks in. Some have suggested to find a support group, and since I’m a homebody.. here I am internet :)
I think I’m just to the point where I’m ready to get this done and start a new relationship with myself and how I treat myself and body. Waiting for the mind and body to connect to such logic, still.
So.. hopefully I can connect with someone who might get me. :)
Thanks.
Melissa.

Welcome Melissa :) You are a fellow Texan. Excellent!
I hope your able to find a way to get the mind and body to connect, when you do, could you tell me how you did it? It seems for me since surgery that there is a very big disconnect and I'm not sure my new little stomach will ever listen to my head again. :( It has kind of got a mind of it's own now and is very upset I allowed a surgeon to invade it's territory! I guess on the positive side of that, it is definitely working... I can look at a piece of cake and the grumbling begins, it's kind of freaky! :p Anyway, I hope they set a date for you soon so you can move on and begin your post op journey! Best wishes as you navigate the prelim junk!

I hope you're able to better cope with loneliness and such. I have a habit of reading a good book to keep me in the world the author created. Especially fantasy or sci-fi. I am hoping something that can distract you would help. So that your alternative is not to eat comfort foods too much. If you still have a hard time, do you have a favorite food? Like just one. Eat that and little by little eat less and less. Weaning is a lot easier than dropping cold. I do hope you are successful with that relationship.
