Hormones and weight loss

Hey anyone. Have you had hair loss or acne breakout after surgery? I'm 6 months out and have been struggling with both of these things. Read somewhere that because of hormone changes these things can happen. Does anyone know when things start to level out?

I had some hair loss around month 4 after surgery. I was told by the anesthesiologist that it would happen as a reaction to the anesthesia. I started taking biotin and pre natal vitamins to have them build up in my system and begin healthy hair regrowth right before surgery. It has really helped. I haven't had an issue with acne however.

Thank you for your reply. I just added biotin to my vitamin and calcium intake. The hair loss and acne really threw me for a loop. I knew it was possible to experience hair loss because they tell you so, but the acne is just weird. Do you take the recommend daily vitamins and calcium?

Yes I do :) I am currently taking my multivitamins in liquid form with 1 supplemental iron pill, (the liquid multi doesn't have a high enough iron in it) 2 prenatal vitamins & 2 omega 3 vitamins, (in gummy form, my surgeon doesn't like this, but I chew them and let them dissolve before swallowing and they work great) 4 calcium tablets (although, I'm about to try the caramel ones Tracy takes, they sound yummy) and a supplemental D3 with my first round of calcium as it boosts absorption of the calcium.

Wow you are on the ball. I just take the vitamins and calcium brand I get from my doctor's office. Hope I start to see better results with the biotin. Thanks.

Have you Tried the caramel one yet??

Viactive, they have caramel or chocolate, they are both good, you can buy them at rite aid, or Walmart, cvs, not sure where else, probably pretty much everywhere, I normally order them online from rite aid, they run specials all the time, buy one get one free, I stock up. Much cheaper that way, I hope you can find them, I just had my blood work done and my calcium levels were good, so I know they work

Yes, hair loss about 4 months after surgery. It lasted about 2 months and now it is growing back. I read that it is common to have hair loss about that time. I only had a very small problem with acne and it didn't last but a week or so.
