I had my surgery done in Rochester, MN. I find it interesting that Minnesota has no face to face support groups (that I have been able to find anyway). My journey is new to me, but I am excited about it so far. I am down 27# since surgery and am starting the soft diet this week :). I was excited to be able to eat some egg noodles with meat sauce last night with no problems! I find it funny now how such little things can be exciting to us...LOL

I just finished up with all day meetings and blood draw. Now I wait for insurance approval. I have been thinking about this for a few years ( not a hasty decision). I am 60 years old, will be 61 by the time I have surgery. There are so many things I still want to do.Wear jeans, wear a swimsuit, get in and out of a tub,go shopping with my daughters and not be 2 miles behind all the time. For me I have to focus on all those things plus more to keep me knowing this is the right decision. Major surgery is scary for anyone but also not living to your full potential is just as scary and can be lonely. I am new to this site and hope I can develop some new friendships through this. If all goes well the first of Dec. would be my surgery. Good luck to everyone on their journey.

Paramoe-Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your decision to have WLS. Have you decided on which surgery you are going to have? I think you will find this forum very helpful so don't hesitate to ask questions, offer advice or provide encouragement. Make sure to come back here to let everyone know how you are doing :)

Welcome Paramoe, you will find this a great place for some good tips along the way and a safe place to vent where we know what you are going through. I am a man but I like a nice warm bath sometimes after a hard days work in the woods, especially when it has been cold and wet out, nothin takes the chill off better. Ther are so many things I can do now that I was having trouble doing before surgery, I am two years out and I am now jogging 6 miles a day or hiking for at least an hour, just depends what I have time for. It has been a wonderful journey for me. If you have till December make sure to do your homework on what proceedure you are having if yopu haven't done so already. Tom

Where did you have yours done? I will have mine done in Park Rapids. There are support groups there. But it is an hour drive for me.

Hi Grandma Millie,
If jello does't do the trick try 2 or 3 oz of lunch meat like turkey or chicken, is should satisfy any hunger and if it is just boredome eating, it is high in protien and should matabalize quickly. Tom
