    Posting on old threads...

Sorry all. I always forget to look to see how old a post is before I respond. Have done that several times on here. I'll try to do better! Apologies.

Oatmeal is great and filling!!!! I love it. Even post op.

    Protein bars

I can't eat protein bars. I get so ill and they are just too big to consume. I am jealous of all of you that can eat them!!!

    why can't we take

Probably most of us get a bit sick with the protein drinks, Stacy. I have no answer for you. I have gone to just mixing mine with water. Sometimes a bit of vanilla extract to help the flavor. I think the proper response is that you are going to get sick to your pouch...nothing can be done...

    30 minute meals?

I was never told to make a meal last 30 minutes. That is so odd to me. The 30 minute guideline for drinking has proven very important. If I drink something before, I barely eat. If after, well, I just can't drink for about 30 minutes after a meal, so that's a non-issue. But that 30 minutes to...

    Need help getting in protein

Nana, I don't care for the shakes, but obviously, have to have 2 a day anyway. But that's my limit. I choose food!!! I hope the following information helps you.... Chicken *breast, 3.5 oz - 30 grams protein *thigh – 10 grams (for average size) *drumstick – 11 grams *wing – 6 grams *chicken...

    Vomiting

Elora, Which procedure did you have? I read your post and I was/am baffled. The RNY makes it almost impossible to regurgitate...we don't have enough stomach or acid for our pouches to constrict to get the food back up. I've had "leakage" before...when I drink too much water and lay down...

    10 days out - drinking

I remember those days. I carried water with me everywhere...even sitting in church I had a water bottle. I was told by my surgeon to take a sip at least every 5 minutes. It works. Just take a sip, sip, sip, sip. If you want to watch how much your intake is....fill up a cleaned out 2ltr soda...

    hair loss??

Hair loss is caused by the lack of protein and other vitamins and minerals. Everyone is right. It happens to 99% of all GBS patients. My thick, full, gorgeous head of hair became a mere memory about 6 months post-op. For a few months it was as if I was some creature shedding winter hair...

    Vitamin B12 deficient and bruising

Kitty, I bruise horribly since surgery. I have also reached the point of having 7% body fat so basically..nothing. When I rub up against things, the skin tears and I bleed like a son of a gun. Then the bruising is just horrible. My PCP, after conferring with my nutritionist and surgeon...

    Desperate...and nowhere else to turn....

Oh, darlin...I am still so very sorry you had to go through this. You need to be watched still..very closely. If you ever have an inkling that your quality of care is not 100% then you do something about it. Dcepello hit the nail on the head. Okay, so it happens to 1%. Is it because well, it...

Within Reach of Goal Weight - How DO I STOP?!

Leah, I have run into that dilemma. Unfortunately, the surgeons and nutritionists don't really know what to do. You will get a lot of wonderful advice and suggestions, and they are all good...but for the most part, if you continue past your ideal weight, you are in for a fight. There...
