There are support groups at Faulkner Hospital and Brigham and Womens Hospital. Up til this month, it was a support group where people would come together and talk about problems and trimphs and really got a lot done and help for everyone. Faulkner is held on 3rd Wednesday and Brigham is held 1st Tuesday. HOWEVER now the hospitals have decided to have educational programs and alternate sites. SO there will only be about 2 or 3 Support groups a YEAR. There is a lot of consternation among participants since we like the support groups and if we want an educational program that would be great but they should not take away our SUPPORT GROUP. NOT sure what they were thinking but does not sound like they asked the patients/participants. GIVE US BACK OUR SUPPORT GROUP TIME!!!

Sorry to hear about that. It doesn't sound right. They need to have the support groups. Education is worthwhile, but the support groups are needed as well.

I like a mix of the two with a short educational program, question and answer period, with the support group either before during or after. I have found those to be the most helpful. They have pretty good speakers at ours. They liven ours up with samples (shakes and pieces of protein bars for example) and even door prizes from time to time. Of course having to drive forty-five miles at quitting time is a drag but you do what you have to do.

WE started our own group and meet at the same hospital and meet about every other week. Very supportive and if we want to do the educational parts then they are held on a different night and mostly educational.

glad you have found a solution. I have yet to make it to a live support group. Everything I do is online or meeting with friends that have had surgery.

What about starting a support group separate from them.
