what are the pro & cons of this surgery?
I can't really think of any cons of having gastric sleeve surgery. My experience has been awesome. There wasn't much pain after the surgery and the nursing staff were friendly and caring. They had me up and walking that same day. I lost over 60 really fast. I can't say that I did much as far as exercise was concerned. The weight just seemed to fall off. It actually scared me and I started eating things I shouldn't have which caused me to be at the plateau that I'm at right now. I'm grateful that I haven't gain a lot of weight back but I'm determined to get back on track and loose an extra 45 pounds. As far as limitations of foods I can eat, I find that I can eat what ever I like which in itself is more reason to be cautious about what I eat. The most important thing is to make protein a main staple in your daily diet. Protein first, vegetables next, then fruit and the rest of the stuff comes last. Usually by the time I finish eating my protein, veggies and fruit I find I don't have room for other things like carbs etc. Also, they say make sure to thoroughly eat your food and it should take 45 minutes to finish your meal. That is something I am still working on because I do not like cold food.

If you are considering having surgery my best advise is to get as much information about the various surgeries available to you. My health insurance company required that I complete a twelve week course and get a psychiatric evaluation. It is also important to find a support group. I have found that pre op patients benefit from attending support group meetings because they are able to communicate with those that have already had the surgery.

what are the pro & cons of this surgery?

Cons: My joy of cooking has dramatically decreased. I didn't realize how much satisfaction I received from pleasuring people with my cooking. Insurance co pay can be a bit pricey. It requires invest money in vitamins and protein shakes for the rest of my life.

Pros:My self is reemerging with every pound I shed. I have reclaimed the value of me without any of my action. Completely liberating. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat. Freedom in so many ways. I am 6 month post op and all the pain, money, and the expense doesn't compare to the value of my surgery.
