New from Iowa

Hello Sammysue76 and welcome to the forum! I'm sure you will find that there are a lot of great people on here that are always willing to offer support and guidance;) What day in December will you be having the surgery done? It is completely normal to have some pre-surgery jitters!! Just remember that we are all here to back you up and rooting for you!! :D

Hi, I'm from Iowa and will be getting the gastric sleeve in December . starting to wonder if I'm doing right thing? I guess nerves kicking in? stats 5'5 sw 245 cw 230 gw to feel comfortable and healthy in my own skin.
Hi Sammysue76 I was sleeved back in September 2013 and it was the best decision I have ever made for "ME". I choose to have the surgery for myself, not my husband or other family members. I have found that by having the surgery I have improved my life and am healthier. I also have Fibromyalgia and sleep apnea and both of these conditions have lessened since having surgery. You are most likely having pre surgery jitters!!! We are all here for you.

Hi Sammysue76 I remember feeling the same way the day of my surgery. Scared and nervous as to if I was making the best choice. I knew if I kept going the way I was I wouldn't live to see my own kids graduate. I suffered from depression among other things but everyday I told myself I want to be healthy, I want to stay around a while for my family, I want to lose this because there are bigger things for me to do after. It's a scary thought to do any surgery but think of the prospects of improvement in your life after. I was glad I could breathe better and walk up steps without feeling like I had to rest. I wish you all the love , strength, and support on your new journey to the new you inside and out. And remember any new venture in life is a bit scary because it's a new adjustment but I believe you can do this, I think this whole forum does. We are here for you before, after and between. Good luck to you and talk to you soon. You can do this !!!

Hi SammySue. I am scheduled to have gastric bypass surgery on Dec 6. I had all of my pre op work done today. I am nervous as hell. I think if you weren't, there is something wrong with you. I just keep reminding myself the reasons I'm doing this. Today I had to walk up 3 flights of stairs and was winded by the time I was done. As Tamara said, I am doing this for me. That helps a ton. I look forward to going through this journey with you.

Good luck Christine! We will all be keeping you in our thoughts tomorrow. I'm sure everything will go great with the surgery! Please update us as soon as you are able to. I'm so excited for you!! :D

New to site I am just starting the process of the gastric sleeve and I don't know if I am making the right choice. I want to have this change in my life. I have always been a big girl and I am ready. My husband is not to happy that I want to go and have this done, he thinks I can loose it on my own. I am nervous and I feel like I am alone in this decision. I am not getting it done for him I am doing it for myself.

Glad to hear you are home safe and sound Christine! I hope the pain meds are helping and you are feeling better :) We're all keeping you in our thoughts and prayers:)

Thank you so much for joining the forum Stephine! How did the meeting go with your nutritionist?? I know this is hard thing to go through, especially with no support at home. Just remember that we are all here for you and that you can do this!! You have to put your happiness first and if having the surgery is going to make you happy, then you go girl!! ;)

Thanks Heidi. I'm in a lot less pain, but found out regular chewable vitamins don't work, so I've ordered Bariatric vitamins. Hopefully that will help with my strength.
