I'm Desperate for Help!

Hi all. First post. I had the sleeve in 2013 and lost 150 lbs, LOVED that surgery, did NOT want the bypass but had very dangerous GERD. I also had to have an emergancy hysterectomy in 2015 and put 50 lbs back on. Because of life threatening GERD I had to revise to RNY last month. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and am so incredibly disappointed and scared. I've only lost 8 lbs since surgery and can't figure out what to do. I push my water intake as much as I can, I get at least 60 ounces a day but have a terrible time trying to get in the protein because protein drinks make me sick and I obviously can't eat that much. 8 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks! I don't know what to do. Any advise?

I haven't tried them but I understand there are unflavored protein powders that some people use. Perhaps someone can answer who has tried them
Good luck

Did you weigh yourself when you got home from the hospital? They pump you so full of fluids that a lot of people end up gaining weight. If this happened to you, you might have lost more than you think. Make sure you aren't drinking too much shake at one time. This could make you sick. I was sick every morning and dietician figured out I was having too much shake at once. Cut it in half and I've been fine. Your stomach is very tiny right now and it will let you know when it is full.

I use gene pro medical grade powder it is tasteless and can be mixed with anything hot or cold.... If you put in like cottage cheese don't use a full scoop it dries up some.. There is no taste.... If I have beef stew i put some on top and mix it up....

Don't be disappointed...It will come off, stop counting the pounds and start enjoying your life. It will happen... best wishes.

Don't forget that the more you stress out about things, the more cortisol you produce. That in turn slows down weight loss. Perhaps you should look into doing things that will relax you...walking, meditating, etc. You have to get the calories in for you to lose weight. Good luck to you!

I think 8 lb loss is great. I like the unflavoured protein to add to chicken or beef broth. I found I like the vanilla protein shakes the best. I'm in my second week of post op so still on liguid diet till 18th. I can eat blended yogurt but not all at once. It's all a new experience for me. I've lost around 30 lbs sense I started when I first started approval process.

everyone loses at different rates, it will happen, dont compare yourself to anyone else

Hi Kiki, I also find the protein shakes/powder to be disgusting, so I drink Fairlife milk. It has almost as much protein as the many powders and I find it to be reasonably good. You can find it at most groceries stores and it is no more expensive than protein.
