Hello! Glad to have you. I am going to see the shrink and surgeon next week. I am doing terrible as far as eating right. Yesterday I had two bowls of cereal and a sandwich. I don't remember much after an egg sandwhich today. Tsk. Anyway. I hope to get to know you better. Be well

I'm new on here also & I'm at the very beginning of my journey, I've just started having testing & blood work done with plenty more left to be done. I'm here because I need support,I started this process b4,but didn't continue with it,this time I really have no choice,none whatsoever. I'm here, would appreciate the support... Thanks!

Hi, I've been trying to eat better myself, I'm at the beginning of the process,but trying to eat better than what I'm used to...so so hard to do,I feel baffled about what to do.

It will get better for you, I know it, you should try filling up on protein, it will make you full longer and the more carbs you eat the more you will crave them, and they are not great when you are trying to lose weight, I know I have been there, good luck with your journey
 
Welcome Deej! You are among the most amazing group of people, all of whom have been through surgery already, or like us, are still gearing up to have it done. I have some real positive news for everyone today. I have only lost about 10 pounds, but have had to stop taking one of my blood pressure meds already because my pressure was getting too low. After years of fighting high blood pressure, this was a real milestone for me. I am soooo looking forward to more! Be encouraged! I see lots and lots of positive changes in my future, many of them regarding my health. Thanks everyone for being here.

Hi, I've been trying to eat better myself, I'm at the beginning of the process,but trying to eat better than what I'm used to...so so hard to do,I feel baffled about what to do.
I am fortunate my doc provided a booklet called The Guide to Weight Loss Surgery. I've been studying the things more than my bible. Tsk. I have a list of foods I shouldn't eat so I wander around walmart looking for the opposite. It's beyond a challenge but I like spaghetti squash and stir fry and ground turkey. So things are bearable. I prefer cereal though.
 
Sounds like it would be easier to buy items I could eat if there was a list or something I could follow

Only 10 lbs,? 10 lbs is a huge amount, so don't belittle what you have accomplished, you are on your way : )

Thank you Tracy. I don't mean to belittle my accomplishment, I am really happy that I am loosing weight. There is no weight loss requirement before my surgery except to not gain any weight, and the time really is dragging. I have to do something to push things along so have cut out all junk food and am eating lots of protein. Other than that, I am trying to only eat nutrient rich foods. If I want fruit, which I try to do once a day, I make it into a smoothie and dump 24 grams of protein worth of powder into it. Tastes great. I can't say I never slip up unfortunately. Yesterday my partner made my favorite pizza and I shared it with him. We have been together for nearly 5 years and this is the first time he has ever bought my favorite. Usually its pepperoni and that makes me sick to my stomach so its easy to resist.

This week I see the cardiologist for the initial visit to set me up for the testing he needs to do, and I will have my psych eval, so by the time I see the Dr in May, it will all be finished, finally. Only thing left will be my Dr visit in May and June. I am so excited, I am so ready for this.
 
Keep up the good work, you are doing fine, and a little pizza here and there is not going to blow your whole diet/lifestyle change, we all have eaten something we thought we shouldn't, but that is just part of life, we just keep going and make better choices as a whole, and don't stress on the things we may eat occasionally,, occasionally is the important thing

I'm fairly new here myself. My surgery is 2 weeks from today. I start my pre op diet today. Lots of great support here.

Hi. I'm hoping you saw a nutritionist by now and got and idea of what to buy. I am so sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I have been in alot of chest pains and was scared it would be my heart. Turns out it might be muscle skeletal but from what I do not know. Again I apologize. Can you tell me if you have that list yet or no? I see a nutritionist on the 16th maybe she can give me something to share with you. In the meantime I hope all is well your way.
