Hi, I had surgery approx 15 days ago. I'm worried about eating something that will stop up my new pouch hole. How long is the danger of this happening? I'm starving and on a liquid diet...does anyone else stay this long on the full liquid diet? I don't go back to Dr till mid July to go to the next stage...

Liquid diet normally is 2 weeks after surgery and then puree foods for a week then on to soft foods for a week or 2 depending then you graduate to regular food. Or at least that what i did along with some others on here.... Call your docs office and ask them, Im' sure they will say go to puree unless you had issues, but im sure you would have been told about any issues during surgery...
Best of luck

I was on clear liquid for 2 weeks, full liquids for 2 weeks, now pureeded for 2 then soft...etc.
Liquid was torture. It gets better in the pureed stage.

I was on liquids for 1 week and soft foods for 4 weeks. I was so glad to get to solid foods. Took 5 months before I was able to eat solid meat at fairly normal size bites. I was only able to eat bites that were 1/4 the size of a normal bite. I chew like crazy, but only now able to eat without choking. I've also discovered why my doctor says not to eat bread or pasta. It hits the fluid in my stomach and swells up so much that it clogs my stomach. Takes time and pain to break down and pass. One time of experiencing and that is enough.

I did things a little differently by extending the time periods for the stages. I was on full liquids for 2 weeks (Dr's instructions), then I stayed on pureed foods for 3 weeks, then soft foods for 8 weeks. I was afraid of causing damage by advancing too soon. I was able to eat almost everything in the last couple of months but am now feeling sick when I eat, so I have gone back to the softer foods to see if that helps.
