Anyone that knows how to end this dilemma, please advise. Surgery was 13 yrs. ago, lost 230 lbs. I am cold most of the time. Now that the damp cold weather is here, I really suffer if I get a chill. I sometimes have to take tylenol & lay down for a while as I feel like I have the flu if I get than chill in my bones.

Hi Yolanda, Welcome. Do you still have your vitamin levels checked annually to assure there is no vitamin defficiencies? I am two years out and I am much more sensative to the cold weather but I just make sure to layer my clothing because we can go from chilly to warm here in a matter of hours. Mostly may hand and my nose are freezing so I wear gloves when the temeperature drops . The flu like symptomes are a little concerning, that may be a sign of vitamin defficencies but it may also be the way your body tries to deal with being cold. I just stay bundled up all the time. Tom

Yolanda-Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your fantastik weight loss!!! I have to side with Tom regarding getting regular blood work done to make sure you stay healthy. Please make an appointment if you haven't had blood work done in the last 6-12 months. I'm having a problem with feeling cold since my surgery too. In fact, this summer is the first time I can remember since I was a teenager that I was comfortable outside when it was over 95 degrees. I hardly even ran my air conditioning either. My last blood work showed my D3 level was trending to the low side but other than that I was OK. I think just losing weight can cause some of us to feel cold but the blood work needs to be done to keep us healthy.

If you haven't done so, you might benefit from having your thyroid checked. Hypothyroidism is very common and one of the side effects is feeling cold and sluggish.

Yes, being cold is a reality for most of us.

I am always cold. So, I dress up. I now wear flannel pj's around the house when home at night and relaxing. I always have a bathrobe on now. My hands will go ice cold on me. So I wear gloves if I need them even inside the house.

My wife bought me an electric blanket. Oh does that feel so good!

I also go for my blood work every 3 months still. So none of this is due to deficiencies anywhere. My D3 level is over 60, which if you researched it at all, is the true level you should be at to stay healthy and help prevent cancers of many types.

I take a bunch of supplements as well.

Best wishes,

Ralph

Sorry, I only have more questions for you. Questions that a doctor can help you answer.

When was the last time you spoke to your doctor about this problem? When was the last time you had your hemoglobin levels and iron counts checked?
You should really go to your doctor regarding this complaint.
Good luck
