Hi everyone, I'm going on 4 days out of gastric sleeve surgery & still feeling hungry I know I am not. I'm haveing a tough enuf time geting all the fluids in me so far, I guess it's in my head plus not actualy eating & all the grumbling going on (feels like when I was hungry) I know a big part of succsess is retraining my brain, seems hard right now. Just wondering if any body else feels the same & what you do to get through it? And of course worst time of year to try to stay away from food.

Welcome to the group and congrats on your new journey! I think the head hunger is an issue for so many. It also took me awhile to get used to the weird grumbling as things were adjusting after surgery. Remember that any protein shakes can be accounted for as part of your water intake as well. :) It is going to be tough being around all the food, I agree! But you can do it! I would challenge you to focus on the protein dishes and give yourself a ratio when you eat during the holidays, like for every 2 or 3 bites of turkey or ham you can have 1 bite of some veggies or dressing. It won't take long for you to get full either, which will help! Oh, and while some people can go cold turkey on sweets, I think avoiding them and eventually giving in to a huge amount is more harmful than if you intentionally took a bite or two of your favorite dessert served during the holidays, if you can tolerate the sweet stuff after surgery. I hope things get better for you as you recover!

Hi Frank. Welcome. I too had the sleeve. I am now three months out. And it's been rocky all the way through but it feels good for the most part to be able to accomplish more and eat less. I am in a household where I have to maintain alot of self dicipline whend it comes to food. There is always junk in the house. Any way you look at it there will be temptationa but do not torture yourself. It's not necessary. You might still be on all liquids or pureed foods so basically you can't have the turkey dinner. Itll be cruel on your stomach. Hope you can drink plenty of protein shakes. Not quite the egg nog but...welp it'll help. I hope you have great success. Again, welcome.

Thank you, good to know it's not just me. Put my self to the test went to dinner with family at a very busy dinner was able to sip soup & be ok with evry one around me eating all the food & mainly the smells of everything I thought would make me crazy but it didn't.

Awesome! This is encouraging for today especially! Thanks!

I had my surgery right before Christmas last year and I choose to stay home until later in the day, I didn't want to watch everyone eat all those yummy things when I was wondering what the hell I did to myself, lol. I'm passed that now and so happy I did it, you will make it through the holidays, it's tough but you will be fine
