    Finally

My taste buds irrevocably changed with surgery, and I can't handle sweets anymore  I literally get sick with anything that tastes sweet, ice cream included. That may be great for weight loss but man when I see a huge slice of chocolate cake...my brain still says YES!

    New to group

Welcome :) I would recommend having a full glass of water or a protein shake when you feel hungry. Hunger is a lot of the time our bodies actually telling us we are thirsty. Also, there is nothing wrong with being hungry, as you now have a chance to incorporate the healthy changes for the new...

    6 Month Post-op

Congrats on 100lbs down! What an awesome milestone! Hope you celebrate in some way! Keep up the good work. :) I hate that it slows down but it does! I'm in the same boat with more weight to lose and it's a struggle but it's worth it!

    Weight Loss

I'm not sure what type of surgery you had, but keep in mind that sleeve patients are more slow and steady weight loss than bypass patients who tend to have more of a stop/start weight loss. Many...many...many times during my journey the scale didn't move but I was still losing inches and the...

    Non-Scale Victories

NSV's make it all worth it don't they? Let's see if I remember some... The first time I crossed my legs, like an actual normal woman I didn't realize it at first, then when I did I had a 'whoa' moment. :p I didn't step on a scale after surgery for 3 months...when I did it said I lost 70 lbs...I...

    Protein

So is the thumping of your heart coming right after or fairly soon after you've eaten something? It is sometimes a different reaction to foods versus dumping syndrome, so instead of getting really tired and needing to sleep your heart feels like it's going to beat out of your chest. If it's...

    loosing the battle

This may actually be rooted in hormones and not in your daily eating habits. I think it would be worth your time and effort to discuss with your doctor and have a checkup on all your levels to sort out what is going on beyond eating and exercise. I hope you find a solution! Let us know!

    Terrified of the pain!!

You can do this! :) Is it worth it? YES!

    Revision done Monday 12/17/18

Congrats on the revision, what does that mean exactly? Did you go from nothing to an RnY or did you have the sleeve and change over to the RnY? Anyway, as far as foods to puree to eat, I didn't do too much, just changed out types of soups and blended in the unflavored protein powder to hit my...

    Updates...

Good to hear from both of you! I also have issues with dense proteins, which puts most of the protein shakes on the market not something I can tolerate, even now nearly 1.5 years later, my taste buds are forever changed and the texture is too much. I've also discovered that my tool is working...

How is it going HoJo, things improving over time? Carolyn, are things getting better? I suggest if you are going to eat chocolate, get the miniatures, and use them as a reward after you've had a protein shake!

    Updates...

I'm still following :) I had RNY surgery on June 19th, 2017. I'm doing okay, it's an uphill battle but I'm still on that narrow road of losing weight. :)

    Hope..

I'll keep that in mind! Oh, a new NSV for me :) I can totally cross my legs like a normal person, lol! Seriously, we heavy girls of the world can't do that comfortably! I didn't even notice I did it at first, then I was like WHOA! I can totally cross my legs like a lady! Now...now, I would...

Love the new pic :) I don't use the GenePro, I'm with you in that I don't believe it has the full 30 grams either :) I use the Syntrax unflavored but considered the Unjury as well, let me know if it works well and how much protein per scoop, I might switch :)

    Hope..

So after about 4 months I was told that rarely, like 1 in every 5000 people, the body kind of 'rejects' surgery. On it's own. It really objects to a surgeon touching it, hence the lingering nausea. I was one of those lucky people. I am guessing there is a good chance you are as well Hojo :(...

    Hope..

How did it go? Are you feeling better? I usually hear that once they widen the stricture things get better so I'm hoping it worked for you. I found that during my nausea stage (8 months) if I drank a little and waited a good 20 minutes before drinking again it eased the feeling of nausea a bit...

    BIG DAY. . .

I have several friends that have had the same thing happen, but as soon as they fix the stricture, things get so much better, I hope this is the case for you! Congrats on the weight loss so far!

    BIG DAY. . .

Hojo, you are nearly a month out from surgery, how are you doing?

    Yikes!

Oh, I get mine on Amazon. It is called 'Syntrax' unflavored protein powder. It is 10 grams of protein per scoop, so if you just need to boost something that is already 15 grams up to 25 to sneak a bit in then you can, or I throw in 3 scoops with chicken broth to get the full 30 grams. I do want...

    Yikes!

I drink the propel protein water, it's okay and works to help get the protein goal in, but they aren't terribly tasty. A bigger chunk of my protein daily is a shake though. Just as a reminder, if you aren't getting 80-100 grams of protein a day in, you are stalling your own weight loss and just...
