Wow, 285 units of short/fast acting insulin. That's a lot! I was on over 200 units at one time when my blood sugars were over 400. Jardiance is what made my blood sugar come down. I still take the Jardiance but at a lower dose. I have taken insulin only 2 X in the last 3 weeks. I am to...
Welcome to the group! Almost everyone has these fears. I know I did. I had gastric bypass surgery 5 weeks ago. I had it mainly for my diabetes because I was on 100 units of slow acting insulin plus over 100 units of fast acting insulin a day plus 2 medicines for it. Now I only take 1 unit /...
Sounds like me. I am 4 weeks out. I can't eat meat at all. I can eat cottage cheese, and string cheese. I have tried taking gas-x but it didn't do the job. I was told to keep eating what I could and to give it time. How much time, I don't know. I am doing good except for moving on to...
Drink more liquid! Being dizzy is caused by not drinking enough. That is what my Dr. told me. Gas X will help with the gas but not until after a few more weeks. Good luck!
I just had gastric bypass 4 weeks ago. I haven't had any bad side effects yet. I just had to learn when my new stomach was full which was a problem at first. I ate too much a few times and paid for it but that was my own fault. Now things are much better. I had the gastric bypass because I...
Hi and welcome! I had gastric bypass surgery almost 4 weeks ago. Just post your questions you have and you will get answers. Everyone is so helpful here. Your journey is just starting. Good luck!
Some cravings came back but I sampled some of things I was craving and it wasn't the same. The taste was off and then I didn't want it again. You are lucky if you don't have to change your diet to prepare for surgery or maybe not. I had a 2 week liquid diet to prepare for surgery. This was...
My insurance will only pay for removable of skin if it is causes sores. It won't pay for tightening the skin as in a belly tuck. Good luck in getting your insurance to pay. Let us know if you do and how you did it.
Hi Greg, welcome to the group. I am three weeks out from surgery. My only pain I have had was because of food I tried to eat and my stomach didn't like it. Learning what you can and can't eat is the only problem I am having. Each person is different. So good luck with your surgery!
I feel great! I have lost 20lb. since surgery. I still am trying to get my food right, what my stomach will take but I am working on it. I am down to less than 10 units of insulin a day ( I was at over 200 units a day). Dr. said next month I should be off all insulin. I feel human at last.
I just had surgery a little over 2 weeks ago. So Congratulations on your approval! March 20th will come faster than you think. Your new life is waiting for you!
I am two weeks out from surgery. I took stool softeners and it was almost a week before I had a bm. Evenings were bad for me too. Moving around helps but it is hard to do at first. It does get better. Good luck!
I seen my diabetes Dr. today. She changed / added back in some of my medicines temporary for a few weeks. She thinks I should be off my medicines by next month, just need to settle in. I sure hope she's right. I had the surgery specially for the diabetes.
I am 2 weeks out from bypass surgery. I wake up sometime with a small amount of pain but once I get moving, it goes away. It gets better each day and so will you.
My recovery so far is good. I am 2 weeks out and back to work. My blood sugar hasn't leveled out yet. If it is high when I eat and I take any insulin, it then goes too low later in the day. I can't seem to win. But tomorrow I see my diabetic specialist so hopefully she can get me balanced.
After my surgery, the Dr. took me off of my diabetic medicine except for my fast acting insulin which is now at a lower level. I go to bed and my blood sugar is ok but in the morning it is now high. I do go to my diabetic Dr. in a few days. But I am not eating anything with sugar, my liver is...
Your diet sounds like mine. I can't have those things either. I am a diabetic and at the beginning I had some real low readings so I had to take glucagon tablets to bring it back up. Next day the Dr. decreased my insulin so the rest of the diet been OK. I have a birthday party I have to go...
