    ...the fine print...

I concur that the forums when I was browsing tend to be focused a bit on the surgery itself and the time surrounding it and less on the long term maintenance. I understand it though since it is such a big change for people and there is a lot of fear associated with the event. Personally -...

    Finding good walking shoes?

I have terrible feet. I found that most shoes do not work for me. I have psoriatic arthritis and have pretty much gotten rid of a lot of my shoes because they are too painful. This last year, i started not being able to walk barefoot. Solutions that seem to work for me are birkenstocks for...

    6 weeks of liquid diet

Bah! This is me whining... I was soooo excited for phase 3 after a whole month of liquid diet. Last week I thought about complaining but figured just one more week, I can make it without needing to share my misery. But then I got my next phase and all they added was some egg whites, cottage...

    Surgery

I saw examples of that on my 600lb life when I was watching it the other day. I thought it was very interesting. I usually associate gall stones and associated pain to higher fat diets like Atkins but after thinking about it, I felt the denser protein diet complications totally made sense.

Has anyone hid their surgery from family/friends?

I actually did not tell my boss. I said I needed time for surgery but did not specify what kind. He asked if everything was ok? I said yes. I asked if he wanted me to push it out, since it was not the best time, and he said of course not. It is medically necessary and more important. I am...

    11 days post op

    Help me find a Nutritionist

Since I was self pay for surgery elsewhere, out of country, I had my primary care refer me to a nutritionist. My insurance covers preventative care and weight loss programs but not surgery. So it will cover the nutritionist. I like to remember that doctors, nutritionists, etc... have a...

have you had an appointment lately?

hmmm..... Everything converts to sugar eventually. It just takes longer for your body to digest the proteins and fats to convert them into sugar since they are more complex. So, if you are careful and plan your timings, you could skip eating simple sugars. This should reduce the yoyo...

have you had an appointment lately?

Giving up carbs should curb some of that hunger. Does your cravings for food change with the type of food you eat? If I remember correctly, it takes 15-30 minutes to digest carbs, like 1-2 hours for protein, and oils are like 4 hours. So, if you eat a lot of carbs, you will be hungry again...

    Surgery May 1st

I found giving up beverages slowly helped. Going cold turkey causes headaches and can be super stressful. I started with soda first, and though my caffeine intake increased for a little while, it allowed me to get used to not drinking it. Once i was comfortable with not having soda, i...
