    Depressed

I echo Cheyenne's advice. You can do this! 63 pounds is amazing! Before the surgery, if someone told you that you'd weigh 63 pounds less, you would have been stoked! I have read about the 5 day pouch test, and I think that's a good strategy. Watch your carbs and fat, take in plenty of fluids and...

    Severe stomach pain - advice?

Thanks, Cheyenne. It took my husband 7 days to get over the virus. I've found people to cover me at work for the rest of today and tomorrow. I plan to go to the hospital on Monday if I'm no better. Thanks for listening. I have not had a stomach bug since my surgery and have never had one...

Weight loss going south...need assistance getting back on track

Smith, How are you doing? Remember before surgery? If someone told you that you'd be at 216, you would have been so happy. Try not to think of what you've gained and concentrate on what you've lost.

    Severe stomach pain - advice?

Yesterday evening and this evening I am experiencing stomach pain that I've never had before. I am also having minor chills and diarrhea. The diarrhea was worse yesterday, but the pain is worse this evening. I have no abdominal pain. The pain is on the left just below the breast and radiates to...

No energy - even with B12 - advice?

I returned to work. After getting two B12 shots - 3 weeks apart - I found that I had more energy. Now I just take oral B12. Everything is going well. Thanks for your advice and reassurance. :-)

Why did you choose the surgery you chose and how is it going?

I chose the gastric bypass RNY because of its high success rate. The only other health problem I have is high cholesterol which is familial - so I will probably take cholesterol med no matter what my weight. I had no problems with the surgery. I wish I had done it sooner.

Food and beverage likes and dislikes after surgery

RedMama, my experience lands on the other end of the spectrum. I had my surgery at a different hospital that required only 24 hours of a liquid diet pre surgery, and I was able to walk fairly easily post surgery. I spent only one night in the hospital. I have had no nausea or vomiting. I had...

No energy - even with B12 - advice?

I return to work in 2 days, and I'm anxious because I must stand for my entire shift at work but have little energy. I am taking vitamin B12 1000mcg orally per day as well as a once monthly B12 injection that I got last week. I have been walking 40 minutes once to twice a day. When I clean...

1 month check up after surgery

Congratulations on your weight loss, Booly! I hope they figure out what's going on with your BP soon! I must remember what your dad said about docs "practicing" medicine - love that!

Hunger vs. Fullness - your thoughts.

Thanks, Gr8k8! Sometimes I focus too much on directions that I need someone to tell me to listen to my own body :p

Hunger vs. Fullness - your thoughts.

I am 4 days post-op RNY. I have gotten hungry maybe twice - so I know what that feels like. My dietician says to stop eating when I feel full, but I feel full most of the time. She's not talking about sipping on liquids. We're talking about my 3 to 4 puréed food meals per day. She did warn me...

    After Surgery day3

Just to add to above: remember that so many things count as fluid: sugar-free gelatin, sugar-free Popsicles, your protein shake. I am loving savory items like fat-free broth. Maybe you could try breaking your portions down to smaller sizes. Instead of 11 ounces, try 4 ounces at a time so it's...

5 Days since surgery, I have some questions please :)

Ditto to everything StinkerBelle said. Also, your body will retain fluid while you're healing from the surgery.

    First time here

Mamafirny, I just had gastric bypass on 5/28, and they had me walking that afternoon to prevent blood clots and to get the gas moving. I just walked up and down the hall very slowly a couple of times a day while in the hospital - which was just one night. Since I've been home, I've been able to...
