On a 1970s trip to San Francisco, I discovered the amazing Ashleigh Brilliant at a postcard stand. I bought a bunch of his cards, which are pithy sayings 17 words or less. I think he eventually started including more words. But there was one I loved, and I really needed to hear it:
"Do not worry what others are thinking about you. They probably aren't thinking about you."
I've looked all over the interweb & cannot find any reference or image like this. So I emailed himself, who, if still alive, is in his 90s and living in Santa Barbara. I expect to get a response and hope it's soon.
In the meantime, here's another Brilliant saying:
Enjoy.
