Been a bit

Hey all. I’ve been lurking in the shadows, replying occasionally, but life’s been pretty hectic. School ended for my children, so that was crazy and fun. My husband tested positive for Covid last Sunday after being in LA for a week at work. I started feeling sick Tuesday, tested negative, and was told to test again 3 days later, and then I tested positive. So that was Friday, and now I’m almost 100% better lol I won’t minimalize how it was, but I will say that I’m really happy to have been vaccinated and boosted.
I have not been keeping up on my biweekly or even weekly weigh ins. I will get on the scale every now and again but I’m at a point where I feel my clothes will tell me more than the scale. Since I started wood working and getting active with projects, I’ve gained about 10 pounds. And I am honestly really happy about it.
I lost a lot of muscle over the winter when I was dealing with the worst of my fibromyalgia. I’d gotten down to about 168 lbs and was not looking great. I also wasn’t feeling good either. Im really happy that I’ve been able to put some muscle back on, and I can feel that my arms and back are stronger. The scale can say what it wants, but my clothes aren’t saying anything different hahaha
Our bodies are going to shift and focusing on positive changes with our relationship with food, the scale, clothes, and our own perspective is in our power. Pay no mind to the naysayers. Don’t let food control your emotions. Remember that you are here for you and you are stronger than you realize ;)

So glad to hear that you are happy and comfortable with your body. That’s really the ultimate goal, right? I hope I can reach that point someday.

How is your fibromyalgia? Does it come and go? I read online that it can sometimes be a result of emotional stress or trauma. Is that true for you?

The med I take to help with muscle pain really does help a lot. I do have triggers that can send me into a fibro flare. Oddly, increased stress isn’t one of them. Probably too used to that by now LOL I did have a bad flare up on Easter, but I was caused by a smell. It was so bizarre how I could feel my body turn like a switch. It lasted about a week. Other than that it hasn’t been too bad. Since this will be my first seasonal change on the medication, it’ll be interesting to see how my body reacts to the weather changes.

Excellent to hear from you! I get how crazy things can be with kids home believe me haha. Sorry you had COVID!
Also, I love how you don't let the scale dictate your life but rather how you feel abd the fit of your clothes. I don't know if I can ever get there but that would be the best!!!!! Great job!

WOW... I really thought I was losing my mind thinking I had a flare due to a smell, but I do from time to time!! There's a group in CA that has developed a blood test for fibromyalgia - I got to be part of that before we moved cross country. It was SO reassuring (ironically) to get a piece of paper that says, YES, this is not all in your mind, you do actually have a verifiable, diagnosable disease. Even doctors can still discount fibro as "hysterical" illness that is all in our minds. It is helpful to hear from others that struggle with it.

I am SO sensitive to smells! My son burnt something in the microwave, and when I say burnt I mean charred so bad the devil himself wouldn’t want it in hell. So yeah, that was what triggered me. I’m constantly burning incense or using wax melts because pleasant smells can really set the tone for my mood and feeling. Music too, but sometimes music playing isn’t an option LOL

You have inspired me with your woodwork. I actually used a circular saw for the first time working on the ramp. I even made a diagonal cut. Totally crazy. Pool is looking great after getting vacuuming done. Glad to know life is back to normal for you.
We’re currently doing a family project for our deck. It’s nice having the kids off school because they can help with big projects. I also love that they want to learn how to use the different power tools. My dad automatically included me in his projects, and I’m lucky I can do the same with my kids.

This is SO important!! Not only do you get quality time, but your kids learn how to take care of their homes. It can get really expensive to have professionals do everything for you.

Projects are on hold for a while. My dogs leash got wrapped around my finger as my son was trying to take her and the leash pulled hard. I’ve got a spiral fracture. I have to call a specialist in the morning. I’m trying not to let it bum me out, but a broken finger means not using power tools which limits how much I can do for projects. I guess the kids will be helping more than they thought lol

I saw the orthopedic yesterday. He said it’s not a spiral fracture, but it’s deep and slightly curved. He’s optimistic that it should be healed in about 4 weeks as long as I am very careful with my left hand. He warned that if I do any further damage or it’s not healed well enough at my next X-ray in 3 weeks that I might need a pin in my finger. SO, being super careful and having my family do a lot in the coming weeks so I don’t need surgery!

Oh my the finger looks painful. Durn puppy/dog, must have been excited. Sad to hear about the project slowing down. I found a simple wood pile storage rack under a do it yourself page. It uses two 8 inch cinder blocks with 2 holes side by side. Long side forward you put 6 ft 2x4, in each hole to the center separating the holes. If you try to put it the other way the cinder block falls over. Learned the hard way. Will take picture. It forms a V and then you fill the v with cut wood. It is working out amazingly. I had 3 piles of wood to organize. Last years on the bottom, put a separation over it the the next oldest pile. Had to take a break since I have to cut down some of the logs to fit. Then I have a stack of wood that is even older. It is all wood that I have cut from the yard from unwanted growth when I was working and couldn’t keep up with the yard work. Those are the stumps I am digging up as I can. It didn’t grow in one day and will take more than one day to clear it all. The pool is ready and I look forward to spending time in it after some yard work to just relax.
