Getting closer

I finished my swallow test, psych evaluation, and attended one out of the two classes I need. I am down 17.2 lbs after 5 weeks so I surpassed my 10lb minimum. 2 more weigh ins and it will be submitted to insurance for approval. Surgery should be in May or early June at the latest. I am feeling really good at the moment but I am sure anxiety will hit when it’s time. I still have to get gall bladder ultrasound. How many of you had to have it removed and do you notice a difference?

If you have a choice, have it removed! We recently had a good post going: gallstones

Had my gall bladder removed 25 years ago. My only difference was with fatty food. It gave me bowl problems.
So you must have been young to have it removed as well.

I had mine out (8 months before my RNY) and still have bowl issues, even sticking to the bariatric diet. I've been on a waiting list for a new GI specialist but then this virus stuff put that on the back burner. I'd still rather deal with the bathroom issues than the gallbladder attacks in a heartbeat!

I don't think that you would be on a plan of any sort if it wasn't going to be covered by insurance. I know there are many ins and outs where insurance is concerned. When I had my surgery you couldn't have this surgery unless you were 100 pounds overweight. My surgeon wrote to Medicare to justify my weight as being a hundred pounds over. They immediately approved 80% and the hospital kicked in the other 20% as charitable care.

Wow! That is great that your insurance did that for you :) Thank you so much for your response it made me more at ease. My surgeon also said i need to stop being a pessimist LOL. I just am so excited to start my new chapter I don't want to get my hopes up and then it doesn't happen. I know it will all work out in the end and am so excited for a new beginning.

Was your surgery cleared? I have my appt with my surgeon tomorrow and then I'm all done. I have heard insurance still can deny you. Did you have any issues?
Mine was submitted today and I will know in a week or two. With Covid elective surgery was put on hold so they had to wait to submit it. Not sure how long it will take to get a surgery date because they will start with people who were cancelled first. Hopefully within the next two months.

Do any of you guys know if the insurance approval is easy? I am so nervous that after completing my 6 month plan Ill get to the end and be denied. :(
I finished my 6 month appointment this past Monday. Coordinator sent it to my insurance company yesterday morning and it was approved within two hours. I thought it was going to take weeks. Now, it’s getting real. good luck!
