I hope I didn't ruin anyone's appetite with the title, but I haven't gone since surgery and I'm 8 days out. While I realize I've only had liquids, I think I should have gone by now.

I found the a tip online called miralax.. so for

Laxatives are the thing that would not only start you down the hall but also help you pace back and forth to the bathroom. Make sure you stay hydrated if you use em. I bought suppositoris just in case. And I know that it's the pain reliever that stops me up. So I don't take anything but Tylenol. The thing I find silly is to weigh myself before and after to see how much junk I was carrying. Hope all is well with ya.

Being on the pain meds constipated me. Miralax does work and it's gentle no cramping. Hydration is the key also. Before surgery I went once or twice a day. Now it's every couple of days.... which I guess is my new normal.

It’s already been said, but I’ll say it again. Hydrate. Especially if you use a laxative. I was told by my doc to expect constipation once you get on solids as a high protein diet will cause it. I’ve been lucky, so to speak, as I have a digestive disease that causes the other and they are balancing each other out. Good luck. Hope you are able to go soon.

You ladies are true Gurus, I was dehydrated. I actually spent this past weekend in the hospital. Although I am still having issues keeping down my protein drinks, I am getting my water down. It takes some hard work, but I am doing it. I am now 23 days post op. I have my first appointment with the dietitian this upcoming Thursday.

To start a conversation, click on your name in the blue area at the top of any screen. Then click on the blue box that says start a new conversation. Make sure you know the username of the person you want to talk to and put it in the appropriate area. Then you are good to go. I will send you a message. :)

Is this the first time you’ve seen a nutritionist?

Don't forget you get to count your protein, if in liquid form, towards your daily water goal. :) I would be in trouble if I couldn't do that, or floating in my own little sea :p

Just an update guys it was due to me being unable to keep anything down, food or water. It has/had me dehydrated.

    Thanks for being so encouraging.
