Hello! I just got my vertical gastric sleeve surgery date this morning - 4/3/14! I am so excited. My issue is telling people. I have only shared this journey with my husband so far.
I come from a family of "weight challenged" individuals. I don't want to hurt them, but I don't need negativity from them either. Eating has always been a big part of my family showing love. Any words of wisdom?
Also, I have three children - 17(boy), 11 (girl) and 9 (boy). All are considered overweight but none are "out of control" yet. I feel so ashamed and guilty for passing on not only my weight genes to them, but also some of my awful eating habits. I feel like I need to tell them about the surgery. But I am not sure how I should tell them or how much info to give. Any advice?
