Runny nose still was sleeved 11-7-18 and it’s so frustrating between upping my cortisone allergy meds and eating benedryl like candy..my poor nose‼️

It can be so frustrating at times I thought I was the only one with this problem can’t go many place due too having too wear a mask and having a runny nose at the same time! How am I from the point I’m up too the point I go too bed an have too wear a bi-pap machine with oxygen supposed too be able too sleep with a constant runny nose than drooling on top of that! Yes I am blessed too have gone from 515 too under my goal weight of 250 now 242.6 pounds am 5’11! To just now find out that it’s caused by having the surgery can be completely normal to have this problem an is there anyway that it can be fixed is what I would like too know?

Congratulations on your weight loss success! That is amazing, truly. I had no idea that WLS could cause runny nose. My nose is runny now and I just thought I had developed allergies or sinus issues. It's so bad that I have sores at the top of my nose where the nostril has split from me wiping all the time. It never once occurred to me it could be surgery related. I am going to follow this thread, and hope someone else has some information. And I'll ask my surgeon when I see him next week. If he gives me any helpful info, I will come back and share with you.

I just found this sitting, unsent, in my outbox. DANG, baby!

Welcome to the group Keela. I hope that you will find at least a little bit of what you need here. We are committed to helping you and offering you support.

I'm not sure that but I understand what you're saying so I hope you will feel free to correct me as we go along. It seems like the problem you're talking about right now is that you have some sort of chronic runny nose that is significant. using a BiPAP instead of a CPAP can cause all sorts of problems, including getting condensation in the hose that makes you feel like you're drownin

I wouldn't try to link your runny nose to weight loss surgery. You may be overlooking a very serious problem.
I had an elderly friend who upon eating dinner or any meal would become extremely nauseous afterward she didn't have a whole lot of symptoms of anything else but she definitely was nauseous since she ate food. All her relatives poo poo her and told her she was imagining things. But within 18 months she was dead from stomach cancer.

See a specialist for your runny nose. see a nose ear nose and throat expert and see what he says about it nobody should be having runny nose for the rest of their lives.

I wouldn't try to link your runny nose only to weight loss surgery. You may be overlooking a very serious problem.

Well I found a couple of opinions but they don't necessarily match what people are saying here. And I never had a runny nose after surgery, but for the last 2 years, whenever I bend over, a very watery substance comes out of my nostrils and drips to the ground.

That doesn't have anything to do with surgery except for the fact that I had surgery to rebuild my sinuses in 2016.

Mayo Clinic weighs in but doesn't attribute the runny nose to surgery necessarily, though it does come close to rubbing shoulders with it.

Bug mom has something very interesting to say in this forum:
