Where I’m at

I’d been thinking about adding up my monthly loss for a while, and I finally did. M1: -32.6 lbs (I attribute this to having my gallbladder out at the same time as my WLS bc I had no appetite for 4 weeks and got permission to extended the liquid diet by a week bc my husband was out of town when I was supposed to transition to soft foods). M2: -13.6 lbs. M3: -12.8. M4: 6. I’m in month 5 and down 7 lbs between the 26th of February to now. I think my thyroid meds being adjusted has helped, and I might have BC pill change at the end of the month which could cause some slow down, but that’s ok. 72lb loss since surgery (CW 208), I’d be happy with losing 20-30 more lbs but honestly, anything under 190 is going to make me ecstatic being 5’10 and having a large frame I can carry that without a problem.
My personal goal was to lose 100lbs, but looking at myself in the mirror, I don’t know where else I can lose much from. I guess it’s always hiding somewhere. My husband says he can’t see me losing much more either, but he’s been fantastic through all of this and really just wants me to be happy with where I’m at, whenever that happens.
I am shocked at the speed of weight loss so far, and it hasn’t always been pleasant. I knew I’d have lose skin, and it’s really not a big problem except for on my butt, so awkward. Also between my thyroid disease and my hormones, the quickness is actually not great. My thyroid is constantly up against a changing body, I can only have meds adjusted every 3 months, so it’s completely out of my control. And if you know anything about the thyroid, it has a hand in all types of body functions, so I’m at the mercy of whatever’s happening inside me. I’m hoping my OB will be able to increase the dose on my BC pills so my cycles become more regular again. I’d say that’s been the absolute worst of all this. I never expected that I’d be going through a hormonal 3 ring circus (guess it’s preparing me for menopause a little bit).
All in all I would still do it all again. I’m looking forward to the next couple of months. I’ve got multiple doctors appointments over the next few weeks, so I’ll see how my blood work is improving, and how I can do more to make sure that I’m successful long term. What a wild ride so far!!

You are doing really great, especially when you factor in the hormone swings and your thyroid. It's still semi-early so you might still get some bounce back on the skin. At least that is what I am telling myself!! Are you considering skin removal in the future? I know it's still early but it is something I have been wondering about lately. Let us know if they give you any tips for long term success. Congrats again.

I’m 100% having skin removed from my abdomen and arms and will most like have breast augmentation. I’d rather wait until after my first mammogram to do that just as a baseline. I don’t have too much lose skin on my legs, they’re beefy lol and I’ll talk about my butt, such a weird thing to say. I plan on taking to my OB about it at my appointment this month and get a recommendation for a plastic surgeon as well. He’s the dr I use when I need a referral for a specialist because he only suggests who he’d use, and he’d only use the best.

Talking about butts! Thats the thing I was the most shocked with. I have always had a butt even when skinny but for this I'm losing it and my butt is more dimpled now then it was before!

I would love to have the skin on my arms fixed but not sure they could do so without ruining my tattoos so thats a no go for me. My belly surprisingly isn't too bad...that or I'm just used to having a sagging belly from multi csections.

I hear that on the c sections! I had one with my first and with my twins. I look back at being pregnant with twins and honestly cannot imagine sticking out that far ever again. I was HUGE and Im not sure how I was able to walk without falling over LOL

Got some blood work back today. 1 year ago vs today. The biggest reason I had this surgery was because of health reasons that had been a concern for a while. I’d say a lot of improvements have been made. I’ll have vitamin levels checked next month.
