Had my surgery on sept 25th 2013. For anyone about to have this surgery this has been my experience so far. Worst part in my opinion so far was the bowel prep. had a hard time getting it in besides the awful taste even with the flavor packet. I did end up vomiting from it. I think that was from drinking so much in a short period of time. I went into the hospital on my day of surgery where they took me back and prepped me. took vitals, tried to start an IV, put on these white stockings that go all the way up to high thigh, then other leg wraps that will inflate and then deflate alternately. They couldn't start a IV on me so they finally got a baby one in to put me out in the OR. they ended up putting in a central line in my neck. Everyone wont have to do that. I was just a hard stick. The catheter was put in while I was under and when they took it out the day after surgery there was no pain. They wont let you have anything by mouth really till your 16 1oz water challenge.
