Barrett's Esophagus

For the last three days, my throat has contained a small amount of bile. I wake up and feel horrible and it tastes awful. My throat burns and it takes a long time to go back to normal. I did a search of my symptoms and Barrett's Esophagus came up on every site.

I thought it seemed logical for a few reasons. One, my brother developed esophageal cancer and it contributed to his early death. He was an alcoholic and had vomited from being drunk for years. Two, I was bulimic for many years and used to purge regularly, though sometimes I couldn't get the gag reflex and ultimately, it seemed to go away entirely. Three, I found it was frequently considered a side effect of gastric bypass surgery.

So I was wondering if anyone here could share his or her experience with Barrett's. I'd appreciate any information you're willing to share.

Thanks.

Hi Diane
I was in the hospital a month ago for a bleeding ulcer and the surgeons also found I have Barrett’s . They just gave me a prescription for Zoloft which is kinda a pill for Gerd . And I was told to get another Esophagogastonomy in three years.
