I am 6 days postop. I had a gastric bypass. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed postop. It seems like All I am thinking about is protein shakes and food and water. I sort of feel like I'll never enjoy a meal again. I'm hoping to find encouragement and support here.

Remind yourself why you had the surgery. Remember it is a tool and it takes work, practice and experimenting with different foods. Remember the pouch is very small now, and you have mental hunger, not body hunger. I use www.Unjury.com and read articles, and I find support groups and always attend, I attend 3 a week. Hoag is an online support group for bari patients, pre, post, experienced and new. I just got off from that support group and it really helps me to have others who are going through the process...I'm pre and had very experienced people to talk to. Here is the link.....Community Education Classes - Hoag. They are a new group and have great things that I have learned. Check it out and join me some day. Wishing you the best....stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.

Hi, Lori,
I am 10 days post op and I agree with Wendella. Remind yourself why you are on this journey. As of today I am able to have pureed foods which has been GREAT! I made a nice creamy butternut squash soup and Turkey chili that I pureed. I was so excited about this!! LOL! I have found that drinking the water, chicken broth, and Gatorade zero helped in between meals. I also found getting up and walking around or doing an activity that is easy for a few minutes when I get those same feelings was helpful to get them to pass. Hang in there! You got this!

Hi, Wendella,
I did not see any support groups for bariatric surgery patients at the Hoag link you provided above. Perhaps there is another?
