    Big Time Night Sweating

I was wondering if hormonal changes may be occurring. I was on a high protein diet 2 weeks before the surg so it's been a month + now. Also wondering where & how the fat leaves our body other than urination & defacation. I do have a follow up next Tues & the question is definitely on the list.

    What's happening to me?

Sounds like dumping to me & I've had it already. I think dumping can come in different forms for different individuals and circumstances. Even though you feel like total crap, you have to get the water in afterwards because it really dehydrates you in addition to being a scary circumstance.

    calorie intake pre-op

I was given a presurgical diet to follow; it was 1,300 cals/day for a female loaded w/protein and really not difficult to use as you could interchange things. It's designed to shrink the size of your liver before surgery plus if you follow it I don't know how you can't possibly lose weight. It...

    Big Time Night Sweating

For about the past 4-5 days I wake up after a few hrs of sleep soaking wet along with all the bedding on my side of the bed. Does anyone have a clue why this may be happening? I'm 47, not perimenaposal & have a IUD for birth control. My husband thinks I wear to many clothes to be & too many...

    one week post op

Hi Goppingen1, I am 2 weeks tomorrow. I had complications during the 2nd week & was readmitted. I have cried every day since I got home last Thursday. I see someone for counseling & spoke w/her to set up appts again because I'm really struggling. Ironically she mentioned that the pain meds I...

    Powder vitamins making me nauseous

Ditto Javajoy; I believe the cost at Walmart may have been about $8 for 100 chewables of the Centrum, Adult chewables. Orange in flavor but not too sweet like a candy, larger, football shaped & scored at 1/2 point. Was told many, many times, not to get vitamins & minerals through a powder...

    3 surgeries in 1...feeling regret :-(

Dear Brain, 1st, Centrum makes an adult chewable; you only need one per day. Takes like orange; not bad. We also had the option of Flintstones but they're expensive & you need to take 2 vs. 1 for child. Hope that helps. Was told for any pills I needed to crush to mix in supersmall...

    HELP - Need Immediate Response

Quite a bit has happened since then. Sun - trip to ER - huge areas of hot, red skin around 2 incision sites; one growing larger & larger in size; the other one felt like it had a hard cooked egg underneath. Monitoring, fluids, visits with surgeon at ER & they followed up with mine; appt made...

4 Days Post OP - Cellulitis at Incinsion sites

Thanks, I'm very aware of its severity; started on levaquin at ER last night & just ground one down and sprinkled the whole, nasty caplet into some plain greek yougurt to get it down. Is there any know way to get these nasty-tastin' meds down into the stomach. Along with the pain I'm...

4 Days Post OP - Cellulitis at Incinsion sites

Trip to the ER today; probably should have gone yesterday. 2 of the 6 incision sites are angry, red, warm and 4-5 or 6" in diameter. Incisions look fine; no drainage to date. The larger, I was informed this is the incision for the stapler has a hard lump the size of a med, hard cooked egg...

    HELP - Need Immediate Response

Spoke with my husband's cousin this afternoon. We went through what I ate & it made sense. Lessons learned, doing better now - thank goodness. I'm glad I talked to him. Feeling very foggy from meds; pick your poison the side effects from the oral oxycondone & take the meds that make me...

    11 days until surgery

Hi Bobbi, My name is Mary and I'm 46. I understand your feelings of shame, really, I do. But you're never to old to take better care of yourself. Asking for help is not always easy but if we could do this by ourselves, none of us would be here. Even "healthy" people who don't have weight...

    New and scared

Hey Ducky, I think we all have little bit different situations and programs. Are you keeping a food journal? Have you met with a dietician that works especially with bariatric patients? I met w/ours a little earlier in the process & found the consultation very helpful and encouraging. You can...

    Grief for past life?

Hi Jane, I'm scheduled for surgery on 06/06/12. Yes, I think that's a good way of putting it; I've grieved for the life where I was able to eat whatever I wanted & know full well that I go into this voluntarily and due to what I have done to my body during my 46 yrs of life. I have remorse...

    Protein drinks & shakes

There is a lot of buzz about protein drinks & shakes. None are allowed on our program. We were told from day 1 that Froedert & the Medical College of WI is a Bariatric Center of Excellence & all the stuff to keep that but more importantly that they take a more conservative approach to...

    Stomach size of an egg?

How does this work; I've been told that my new, little stomach is about the size of 1/2 of my thumb. Will/does it stretch? How? Is this bad? Will it hurt? I understand that the carbonated beverages are a HUGE no-no & get that. Getting a little freaked out & not...

Well had the history & presurg physical Wed & pre admission testing Fri, went to dentist on Mon - just through that in there ... just seemed like a messed up, out of sorts week. It's weird to be leaving work for what seems to a long and yet relatively short period of time. Basicallly the...
