    i am so cold!

I am cold all the time. Checked my thyroid, but it is okay. I took my tempature to see what it was for a week in the morning before I got up. It averaged from 95.5- 96.5. But the doc's tell me my thyroid is okay. This despite the fact I was on medication for thyroid in the past. I don't...

    Are you cooking for Thanksgiving?

Well I decided to have it catered this year. I was planning on cooking, but changed my mind last week. Is just a lot of work that I didn't feel like doing and I am okay with this, and everyone else will have to be. I know a wonderful woman who owns a Tea Room and also caters and delivers. I...

    Random thoughts

The thought of eating anything sweet brings on a gag reflex. The only thing I have had a craving for several times is eggplant. I used to eat it about twice a week before my surgery. Maybe why I gained 50 pounds in 2 years along with portion size. Fast unhealthy food everywhere. At my job...

Feeling frustrated about recent blood work

Long story short, during my preop testing my kidney function tests were high. I met with a kidney specialist and he did some tests and concluded that the anti inflammatory meds caused some kidney damage. I had bloodwork done about 6 weeks ago, as I have been off the meds since my surgery, and...

When can you take pills again

I think it took a month to take meds without crushing. I now can take all with the exception of calcium which I still have to split in half. I also still take chewable multivitamins. I just have to remember the timing of vitamins. I have to take my iron at least 2 hours before I take...

What's the most recent book you've read?

Just finished reading Not My Cross to Bear an autobiography by Gregg Allman. Since I have followed the band and him since I was 15, there wasn't alot I didn't already know. A life of loss, love, music and coming out on the other side. A good read.

Hair Loss after Weight Loss Surgery

Hair loss started at about 4 months. I have a protein shake with skim milk every morning which has 21 grams of protein. I get the rest of my protein from food at lunch and dinner. I stay with the higher protein foods. My vitamins have both zinc and biotin in them. I recently started taking...

    Soup

Does anyone have a recipe for pumpkin or butternut squash soup? If not, do you know of a site where I may be able to find one that is low fat and low sodium. Thanks

    food progression fears

I can relate. So glad you brought this up. I have a small number of foods I eat. I am kind of afraid if it tastes to good I will want more. I weigh and measure and eat slowly. I know I am doing the right thing, but a life time of disordered eating does not get cured by surgery. It is...

    Food

Welcome and congrats on your decision to have WLS. You didn't say when you had the surgery so it is hard to say what stage you are at with the food. The beginning is about getting in your protein and usually the best way to do this is protein drinks. I can only speak from my experience, but I...

    Tonja

Welcome and congrats on having your WLS. I agree the reason I had my surgery was to maintain my independence and to be able to participate in life again. I have done more with my grandchildren in the last few months then I had in a number of years. Wishing you all the best in your new life.

    Hurricane Sandy

NY and NJ have been hit hard. 10 people killed so far in NY. Hudson River pouring into the ground zero site. The river is pouring into the tunnels it is a major disaster. The whole transportation system is down. Lower NYC has been hit the worst. I was able to get to work, but no...

    Why did I do this?

I felt this the first week. I am now 5 months post op and it is the best thing I ever did. I now can enjoy my grandchildren. I have been able to do things with them that I had not done in a long time. Sending healing vibes your way.

    Hello

HI Karen, Welcome to the forum. I am 5 months post op sleeve. It was the best thing I ever did. I looked into WLS 10 years ago and just wasn't ready. Anxiety is normal for most. If you trust your doctor and his team, this will help. Ask questions until you are satisfied with the answers...

Currently flying solo. I think just being there for him as this is not only a physical journey, but an emotional one as well. Just letting him know how much you care will help a lot. He probably will have lots of questions so direct him to the site and let him ask anything. Wishing him all...

    Tomorrow is the day!

Good luck to all of you. Can't speak to the bowel prep as I had a different surgery and didn't need one. I also only had to be on clear liquids 1 day. It is all worth it. You are not going to be hungry after the surgery so this is only temporary. Sending postivie healing vibes your way.

    Hurricane Sandy

Be safe. It is headed in my directions as well here in NY. All parkways and public transportation have been suspended as of 9 p.m. NYC schools have been closed. I am as prepared as I can be. Have not been able to get batteries for 3 days. I think the wind is going to be a major issue. I...

    Frustrated...

I can relate. The years of yo yo dieting have left its aftermath. My knees are not going to get better, but I do get around with more ease. I have a back injury and it appears no matter how much weight I lose the pain is constant. Of course the skin, not a pretty sight. I am older than you...

    Fainted yesterday

All tests came back normal. It has not happened again. I was told if it does to see my cardiologist. I don't really have a cardiologist as I only needed clearance before surgery. Hoping it was a one time event. It did freak me out a bit. Thanks for the suggestions and concern.

    We're newlyweds....know where I'm going with this?!?!

I would ask the surgeon. Depending on his recovery and healing process it might be different than the standard 3-6 weeks. There might be other ways to enjoy yourselfs that are not as strenuous. This is not an offensive question. I think people think about it, but might be embarassed to ask...
