Questions on meals after Roux-en-Y-Gastric Bypass Surgery

Here's a stab at describing how we eat with RNY. Always, always protein first. Your protein comes primarily from meats, cheeses, dairy. Drink/eat your protein first. Then after your protein is gone, if you still have room, eat your veggies, starch, and fat until you are full, or you run out of...

Taking calcium citrate were to find it??

Donna, there are many places to get calcium citrate chewables. Some are downright tasty, and I could eat them like candy. I get all my calcium from one multi-vitamin that has everything you need called Bariatric Fusion. They are chewable vitamins that you take 4x/day for RNY and 3x/day for...

Starting week 3, need suggestions on how to go to next step!

The transition to soft foods shouldn't be too hard. As for the full feeling, it may not come for a while. I am almost 10 weeks out and still do not have that feeling. Because of this, I have to measure and weigh everything. I do, however, feel satisfied after my meals. Wendy's chili is a good...

    Introduction & cry for help

Anthony, you can do this! The others have given you good advice, but I want to add that you need to get in contact with your surgeon, or center, where you first had you surgery, or even find a new one. See what they have to say first. Then, start back with your basics...protein, veggies, lower...

Two weeks out an still having major pain in left side!!

This left-sided pain seems to be fairly common in RNY patients. It is usually the area where the doctor did most of the manipulation. As your nurse said, take your pain medication as needed. However, if you spike a temperature, start to have vomiting, or the area gets red and tender you should...

Hello! I am new here and look forward to getting to know you.

I really don't know how long it took from the time it was submitted to insurance. My program handled all of that. It was about 3 weeks from my last required class until I heard from my case manager at Ohio State that I had been approved, and needed to schedule my pre-op appointment.

    hair loss??

Some degree of hair loss is inevitable for most of us. Between 3-6 months is the average time frame where we see it. The good news is that it is not permanent for most people. Are you taking a hair, skin, nails supplement?

Hello! I am new here and look forward to getting to know you.

Welcome! I think you have made a great decision to pursue WLS. There must be something about turning a new decade older that makes us think about changes. I turned 50 this year, and finally had my surgery. I waffled about it for 5 years, but finally took charge and did something about it. It was...

Hi Everyone I have a few ? about our protein shakes & intake amounts

My book only recommends the equivalent of one scoop per serving, I think mostly because they want us eating 6 small meals, and taking in more than that would be too many calories for that plan. I have never thought to put two scoops in my shake. I think ultimately, they want us to be getting our...

    If you had three wishes

I would wish for: 1. A cure for all kinds of cancer to come in time to save my mother 2. Wisdom to know what to do in all situations 3. Three more wishes....oh, that's probably not allowed, so.... To have enough money to live debt free, and to help support all my family who are struggling right now.
