Caught a slight cold immediately after surgery. How do i navigate liquids, protein and meds?

Had surgery Wednesday October 23. Started with sinus issues, now have post nasal drip, tickle throat, cough, slight fever. Suggestions on meds and maintaining protein and liquids?

If it's a virus, you don't need to change anything, because nothing can change the course of a virus. If it's bacterial, you absolutely must ask your doctor. Most people don't really need to take anything for colds or flu, but you're right to be concerned because some liquid meds contain alcohol and other things that you shouldn't be ingesting right now. Always be ready to ask your doctor about anything. It's expected following such a major surgery. You've just altered your entire digestive system AND changed the things and amounts you eat and drink. You should have a followup scheduled anyway, but don't be shy about calling in with questions. Your body is unique, even though the surgery is the same. One thing for sure is you should be resting A LOT. And of course, fluid intake is important--especially water.
