Constipation

I'm having a hard time going. I took my pants and was partially successful. Then I had to take more now I'm left with grumbling in my stomach and false urges to go. I already had trouble going due to my meds I take now since the liquid diet and pureed it's alot worse. Mylanta was recommended by the bariatric nurse practitioner. Any suggestions?

Struggling with this the past three days
I am 10 days post op - RNY
This is kinda glanced over in all the paperwork - mentioned but not really talked about
Took 2 of the stool softners Kaiser sent me home with - gave me stomach cramps for 12 hours
Yesterday started taking Miralax - Doctor says to take Miralax as long as I need - My body has a problem with all the vitamins
I have been worried that trying to go so badly might rip my new stomach or something
Sucks to have to deal with this on top of all the other stuff when you are newly post op
I think I might try Miralax 2 times a day - like MMitti
Mirilax works with the water in your body - which I hope works better for me - I cannot drink as much water as some of the laxitives want you to drink
Best of luck to all of us - still so glad I did this !

I had constipation issues for around six months. I didn’t get impacted from several days of not going. I went but it was like I was a bunny. During the liquid/blended diet pre- and post-op were the worst, no matter how much water I drank... I’d give myself 48 hours and if I didn’t go I’d take an Epson salt bath and drink Smooth Move herbal tea (my nutritionist recommended them). And if I didn’t go the next morning from those I’d suck it up and take Miralax (hospital’s recommendation).

By month 3 post-op the nutritionist allowed 4-6 multigrain crackers and suddenly things started improving a tiny bit at a time. At 7 months post op, I traded out the crackers for one piece of multigrain bread with a tablespoon of almond butter. And boom, that was the magic fiber for me to eliminate the issue.

I would totally chat with your doc/nursing crew. Poop issues are uncomfortable and impaction is something we all want to avoid.
❤️ My best to you.
