Exercise and eating well.

I feel really good, well great :). The subject of exercise isn't brought up a lot. I do realize that many of our group have injurys, or its still a struggle to be active. However there are different levels of things you can do. Sorry I should have looked up some sites for you. But I am a former special education teacher, then went on to be a nurse and pro photographer. I was in a bad accident and really could not do to much of anything. But the kids I taught some were in wheelchairs, and others had limited moblity. I was very active myself untill the car wreck then even walking was hard. But you can sit and do many exercises arms legs in circles, or kicks anything to get the blood to flowing & heart rate up a littlle. Of course we all know watching fats is a huge one and also sugars. But if you look up key words such aa exercise for limited moblity, or wheel chair exersize, you will find something maybe you can use. I by the way spent three years from doctor to doctor, gaining weight and taking more pills. And sitting doing nothing. I decided to start very slow lol a snail could have beat me, walking. IT HURT. I continued and started seeing a great doctor. Who helped me me & encouraged me. I bought myself a exercize bike all the cool controls, complete with a book holder & a cup holder. (my own Christmas gift ) ;) I finally reached 30 minutes and have upped my levels to hill climbing programs. I hope to eventually get to a hour. 1/2 in am and 1/2 in the evening. I think this is really a key to keep the weight moving off. And for those of you who are having knee surgeries and hip replacements, your gonna have a whole new world again. I wish the best to all of you, and thank you for being here for me.

hi you've got a great attitude when it comes to exercise. I think it's great that you got yourself a good bike with all the extra's and you're putting forth alot of effort to succeed. which I am sure you will succeed. I can remember when all I could do was 3 min. on the treadmill and was thrilled when I got up to 30 min. but I am ashamed to say since the surgery I have failed to get myself motivated to get back on the treadmill or my stationery back like I should. your post has encouraged me and I am gonna make the effort to get myself back in gear.
keep up the good work and thanks for sharing and encouraging others .

Angie--thanks so much for the inspiration!! I too am truly enjoying moving, it is amazing that I can exercise without huffing, puffing and feeling like I'm gonna pass out. I have found a wonderful series of "walking" dvds by Leslie Sansone and they are perfect for this time of year when the weather is nasty/rainy and cold. I have also started "beginners" yoga which is soooo relaxing. Keep moving and take care. Time 4 me
