I only wanted two things that are locally grown and fantastic around here. Although there are many many cheeses and sausages and meats and gorgeous peaches and other vegetables I could have gotten but right now I went for mushrooms and garlic.
Yeah yeah, that's elephant garlic. I've already forgotten the names of the mushrooms but they are mushrooms I have never tried before. The guy at the mushroom stand had about a dozen different varieties of mushrooms. I was shocked. People who were watching my transaction were egging me on saying that is the best one, make sure you get that one.
A ls far as the garlic goes, most of the time elephant garlic is pretty mild. But this garlic has been cultivated to be very strong. So I am probably going to roast a lot of it because there's nothing quite like a piece of toast with pure roasted garlic spread on it.
