:) gastric sleeve surgery scheduled 10-15-14

I am scheduled to have surgery the 15th, and I am excited and nervous at the same time. Would love to hear from people who have had this before.

Hi Angelgal, WELCOME to the Forum!!! Being excited and nervous at the same time is very normal!

I haven't had the sleeve surgery so I can't tell you how it is.. but I have had the gastric bypass RNY and that wasn't near as painful as I thought it would be. The sleeve should be easier because your intestines won't be disturbed.

Good luck on your journey to a new and better healthier life! Life has been so great after weight loss surgery. Lots of new clothes, the old ones went to Good Will. I feel so much better, my health is so much improved. I wish I would have done this years ago. I still have more weight to lose but I will make it, I know I will.

Your surgery is only a few days away. Keep us posted on how you do! Good luck again!

Hello Cheyenne,
Well, I am a week into this thing and it still doesn't really feel real. lol I had my surgery on the 15th and things went very well. I came home on the 18th, was really sore for a couple days but now I am starting to feel back to myself again. I had my 1 week appointment with my surgeon and things are going really well. I don't have to go back for 6 weeks, which is a relief after going once a week for the past month and a half. :) I have lost 14 pounds since the day I decided to have the surgery. Between the pre-surgery diet and the after surgery liquid diet, I've done pretty good. :) I truly believe I made the best decision I could have possibly made.

I have to say you look awesome losing all that weight! I went through and read some of the people's experiences and I am so impressed with everyone. I am doing it for better health, to maybe get off of some meds, and definitely to feel better and have more energy. But I would be lying if I said the thought of being able to shop in the "regular" size clothing will be nice.

Through your journey have you ever doubted yourself? I do sometimes even now that the surgery is over ask myself if I'm sure I can do this.

Thank you Rhonda, I used to buy 4X and 5X size clothes. Now I have been buying regular size 18 and now they are getting too big. On to size 16

I thought seriously about this operation for 10 yrs. My Cardiologist talked me into deciding to go ahead with it, and I haven't ever looked back or regretted it after I made my decision. At first after the surgery it was really easy because I got full with 2 spoonfuls of food. Now eating small amounts of food is a habit and eating a high protein, low carb diet is a normal diet for me, and it digests easily and makes me feel great. Yes, once in awhile I eat a couple bites of a sweet, or a little mashed potatoes but that's all I can eat or I feel sick to my stomach. This is a good thing for me. I'm high on life again, all is good!

Good luck!
