Got my date!

One of the benefits of insurance not covering surgery - no additional hoops to jump through. I've considered sleeve for a year. Went to a seminar in September. The surgeon has done previous surgeries (gallbladder, breast lumps, hernia) on me and has been instrumental in the bariatric program in Hot Springs. I had a steriod shot in my back a few weeks ago and the doc who treated me had sleeve surgery done 4 years ago by my surgeon. He was able to provide a lot of info to me and my husband. Bless my honey's heart, he is feeling much better about my decision. I meet with the dietician on Monday and the psych exam is Thursday. Bottom line is - December 10. I have gotten some great info from this support group and look forward to sharing with yall.

Karen, congrats on the surgery date. Any time you have any questions or concerns, just let us know, we're here for you.

Hi Karen,

I'm so happy to hear that you're on the path to a much happier and wonderful existence! Each day will offer it's discoveries about yourself and your new lifestyle way of eating! For each pound you take off, the more you'll be able to move freely! You'll want to move more and the more you move the better your metabolism will function, and assist in your weight-loss journey. Exercise is key and will give you not only a better outlook on life, but also it will remove the unwanted pounds and reshape and strengthen your body.

It's exciting to know that you're entering a phase of your life, that will be most beneficial to you in the long run. You're going to feel so good when the weight begins to come off and you look at yourself in the mirror and say "I knew I was always in there, but I wasn't ready to be seen". Now you are to be seen, heard, participating in life to its fullest! Every day you'll wake up ready to GO! Meeting different people from all walks of life and expanding your horizons. It's fun and exciting to change your life, and your life will change for the better!

Welcome to this awesome site, and we're all here rooting for you!

Hi Karen, Welcome. Congratulations on your surgery date. It always helps to talk with somone and meet athers with the surgery, that is what makes live support groups so wonderful, although this is also a great place for support when you just can't get to a support group or there are none in your area. Let us know how you are doing. Tom

Well - I HAD my date but it has been rescheduled - apparently the assistant surgeon is unavailable that day. New date is December 27. More time to spend at the gym and try out my new eating habits. Life is good!

Karen-Wonderful news!!! I'll bet it's difficult for you to think of anything else right now. Make sure to start getting things ready around the house to make it easier for you when you come back from the hospital. Put things you use all the time within easy reach, catch up on laundry especially linens, towels and whatever you wear to bed. A week of so before surgery get whatever it is you will be eating / drinking for the next 2 weeks so you can focus on getting enough rest instead of running around town. Make sure to keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hang in there Karen, your right it gives you a little more time to spend at the gym and it will pay off during your recovery and healing. Tom
