Moon, you have asked a very important question. A lot of people here have had the lap band surgery. Most of them have had revisions or reoperations because the lap band has not stood the test of time.
I would say to be very vigilant. If you have any discomfort at all after the period where you should have healed, immediately contact a physician. The lap band surgery is almost obsolete, and has in fact been removed from the list of healthcare-covered procedures in Canada
The pain you're feeling now will subside pretty soon and you will lose weight, though not as quickly as with RYGB or ESG.
I'm not going to list the possible hazards with the Lap-Band, but you should look them up and keep them in mind. I'm sorry that I am saying all this, because you already had the surgery. But there's a possibility you will live the rest of your life with a Lap Band that works just fine.
Everyone who has a bariatric procedure has to be mindful of possible side effects or repercussions. The Lap-Band just has plummeted in choice over the last 30 years because of the high percentage of post-op problems.
Again, be vigilant. Just pay close attention to how your body is working. If anything seems like it's going wrong, immediately contact a physician.
