I am a bypass candidate but have questions

Hi! I am 37 (f) and have struggled with horrible GI issues for the past 5 years. About two years ago I was looking into bypass for weight loss but ended up losing about 15 lbs and backed out. At the time I was 5’2 and 195 after the loss. Anyways, after the weight loss I had a GI flare up that lasted about 6 months, I couldn’t eat solid food and got down to about 170. I found out in the meantime that I have a hiatal hernia but the GI dr just upped my PPI and blew me off. Well in the last 6 months, I’ve had a full hysterectomy and an ACL reconstructive surgery and I’m back up to 186. My GI issues are out of control, I can barely eat anything so I saw a bariatric surgeon and had my EGD today. Lucky me found out that I also have gastroparesis. Anyone else have bypass for mostly GI issues and not necessarily obesity? My surgeon is confident he can help me even though I’m not meeting BMI criteria. Metabolically, weight gain destroys me. I still have my ovaries so I still have PCOS and insulin resistance. FML. These PPIs are killing me from the inside.

Had the sleeve developed severe Gerd . They did bypass to stop it . Cured the Gerd but now yr later can’t stomach protein from meat ,fish turkey used to eat a deck of cards portion of meat , now can only eat portion size of 1/2 a thumb . All I want to eat is crackers but can eat many no problem . Doc no help

Doctors are not the best consultants post-op. I'd advise you to talk to a dietician or nutritionist, preferably one familiar with bariatrics. If your portion size is limited, just eat that tiny amount 10 times a day, or whatever works for you. It's important to take in nutritional food to assist with healing and get back to normal.
