I got my surgery date!

Bypass on August 11! This is assuming my breast MRI is okay. I am staying optimistic that this will not be necessary.

Because my BMI is at 35.2, just barely over minimum, I won't have to do the preop liver shrinkage diet. I do have to be careful to maintain my weight in the meantime.

My psychiatrist increased my dosage of antidepressant, so my mood should stabilize soon.

My gums are healing as I am not wearing my partial denture for at least a week. I am using a temporary device that does not irritate my gums. I cannot chew well with it, but at least it looks like I have teeth and I am not in constant pain.

I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel, I'm so glad I can finally see it. Will be very happy to reach it!

Thanks! I am realistically confident that all will be well. After all, it is an "archictural distortion" that was found on 3D mammogram. It was then verified on spot compression views, but could NOT be seen on ultrasound. There is no mass or calcification.

So I was referred for stereotactictic mammographic guided biopsy. Unfortunately, it could not be adequately seen for a biopsy. Hence the referral for MRI.

I am really excited, and nervous too, about having a date set. My MRI is on July 25th (a Sunday can you believe it). As soon as I get the results from that and know for sure that surgery will go forward, I may plan my "last supper".

Thanks everyone!
What I am hearing from all of my doctors is that it is probably nothing to worry about, but it is also something that needs to be checked out.

What I have learned through this process is that with 3D mammography, many women are being diagnosed very early with breast cancer. It can spot things regular mammograms cannot and save lives.

Also, breast cancer does run on my dad's side of the family. His mother and all three of his sisters had it. So when this whole issue came up I kind of panicked.

Congratulations! I loved getting that call to schedule. I did a little happy dance after

Well guess what, I finally had my breast MRI yesterday and have been checking the Healthcare portal more often than the scale for the results.

The report just came in. It appears benign, and a six month followup is recommended.

Which means MY SURGERY DATE WILL LIKELY NOT BE POSTPONED! Sorry for shouting. Okay, I'm not sorry. I've been sweating this for MONTHS.

I am so happy to have this huge weight lifted off my shoulders, and soon some huge weight lifted from the rest of me.

Look, Diane, paragraphs!
