Im waiting for surgery approval but am having a difficult time staying to my diet. Any suggestions to staying motivated and how to bring variety to my

Are you required to lose a certain amount of weight prior to surgery! If not, I would recommend talking with a bariatric dietician and a bariatric counselor to discuss strategies for maintaining gradual weight loss or at least weight maintenance. Don’t do anything super drastic in the way of dieting that isn’t recommended by your doctor, that would only increase the likelihood of falling too far off the wagon before surgery.

the time leading up to surgery can be tough. What I tried to do was emulate how I was going to be eating after surgery and recovery. I stopped drinking 30 min prior to eating and wouldn’t drink until 30 min after. It really does help your body and mind recognize when you are full. I also forced myself to each much, much slower, which also helped with satiety.

If you’re haven’t started walking, do that.

It isn’t always going to be easy post-op either, so begin taking steps to eat like you will be afterward. It doesn’t have to be as small amounts, but just practice going slower and letting things sit in your stomach awhile before you have more to eat. Practice chewing things really, really slowly and well so that slows down too.

Keep your eyes on the prize. You don’t want to do anything to delay your surgery!!

You can do this!
