Its time.

Ami, don't worry. Although a lot of us breeze through surgery & recovery, a significant number of us also experience post-op complications. It's usually nothing to worry about, but surgery is traumatic and healing an organ is a lot more complicated than kissing a boo-boo. You're probably dehydrated & have a bag of saline and/or nutrients being dripped into your vein right now.

Also, I'm going to write about this later, but if you start this journey from a place of super-obese or morbidly obese, you're probably going to have more problems than people who are 75% higher than their body weight. People can be 300, 400 and even 500 pounds overweight before surgery, but the surgery won't make them instantly feel better.

I don't recall if I heard this story here or somewhere else, but one woman related that after she had VSG and was released, her first stop was a drive-thru, where she bought a big greasy cheeseburger & wolfed it down. That is the most foolish thing anyone can do, but she didn't become morbidly obese by being wise and healthy.

You may have to be babied through your recovery. That's just fine. No shame. No guilt. By getting help, you are taking a huge step toward loving yourself, while you may still have a lot of abuse and health problems in your wake.

If you are diagnosed with something other than dehydration, please let us know. And know also that everyone here who read your early postings loves you and wants you to succeed and feel better.

I can't even imagine being in the mindset to test your fragile pouch like that! Like an addict to a needle. Sigh... I hope she is still alive.

she didn't die from eating that cheeseburger, but as I recall, bragged about it. Dunno if she had future problems but yeah, only an addict would do that, and a self-destructive one, at that.
When I was taking classes for the surgery we had a surgeon visit us she said a man had gastric bypass surgery and the day after ate a burrito. He stayed in the hospital for almost a year .
