June 27

I am very excited and nervous, my surgery is just under 2 weeks away and Ive started the pre-op diet. I’m two days in now, the first day was great I didn’t feel hungry or grouchy or anything. Even went for a swim after work.

Day 2 on the other hand...still not hungry, but I’ve had a headache all day and no energy. I called the nutritionist to see if she had any recommendations for spacing protein shakes or anything to kill the headache. She said it’s probably my body and hormones adjusting to the new diet and I’m just going to feel like crap for a bit.

I came home after work and took a 5 hour nap and still had the headache when I woke up. Anyone experiencing anything similar?

Greetings ASITE, and welcome to the group, and the world of bariatric surgery. A lot of members have written posts about headaches. If you will just look up above at the MENU bar and use the magnifying glass to search for headaches, you'll read many posts. But I am sure that you're going to be hearing directly from a few current members. Anyway, just a caution: This is not going to feel like a trip to Disneyland. Different people feel different things but everybody feels something. You're going to hear a lot about post-bariatric problems and just understand that you're having a life-saving, safe, surgery that will result in you losing dozens or hundreds of pounds. You may not always remember the benefits as you go through the annoying little post-op miseries, but I'm going through something post-op right now and I am still grateful. And thin.

We only saw one post from you, but you're still on our minds. You must have had surgery by now. Still in the hospital? I hope you're still with us & can tell us how you're doing.

Hello all,

I had my sleeve surgery on Thursday and my oh my did it knock me out cold. Took me two days to be able to keep down much liquid. I was finally able to leave the hospital today and now I’m working to stay up and moving. I was surprised I’m not in more pain, but no complaints on that front.

I’m feeling quite fortunate to have such an amazing and supportive surgeon. He’s been great every step of the way. Now it’s up to me to stay on a healthy track. I’ve got a week left of recovery before I go back to work, here’s hoping for smooth sailing! Thanks for all your support on here. I’m new to online discussion boards.

Two more weeks on my liquid diet. I’ve never been so excited at the idea of eating apple sauce, cream of wheat or mashed potatoes, yet here we are! I’m glad the sleeve cuts out the hunger hormones. I don’t generally watch much tv, but it’s insane how much junk food is advertised all the time. I’m glad to be home to my commercial free Netflix and Hulu accounts so I don’t feel deprived!

Congratulations! And look at you! You are already up and around and sharing your experiences with us!

Yeah, those junk food ads on TV are not only plentiful, they are nearly erotic! It reminds me of watching old movies where people are about to have sex on the beach or something, while you're looking at a pile of mashed potatoes with gravy slowly drizzling over it, or hot fudge over ice cream. They even manage to make salads look like something you just have to eat or you will die! I was really glad I didn't feel that hot after surgery, taking pain meds and staying in my room, unable to eat much, because those food ads actually made me sick to watch.

I'm so glad you're doing so well and thanks so much for sharing your stories with us.
