Malt-O-Meal Challenge!

So, I made Malt-O-Meal for the first time in my life today, and found I actually like it! Here is how I did it, using the basic instructions with some modifications:

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup magic milk
3 Tbsp Malt-O-Meal
1/8 Tsp salt
1/2 Tbsp 100% Pure Maple Syrup
A dash of Splenda

4 oz of this little concoction provides 13.1g of protien! Amazing!

So... I am sure you are wondering why I am posting an entire thread under recipes for such a simple food? Well, in my experience, simple foods are also the simplest to experiment with. And let's face it, being on as restrictive of a diet as we all are, why WOULDN'T we experiment with the foods we CAN eat, to add flavor and variety?

So, here is my question to all...

What else have you done with Malt-O-Meal to i prove the flavor and variety? Have you used it in other recipes? Have you done anything creative with it?

And... here is a challenge to everyone... Your Mother was WRONG! You SHOULD play with your food! So, go do something creative (within your diet restrictions) and tell the group your results!

somehow this thread got buried & I only found it by clicking on "New Posts."

I use maple flavoring instead of syrup & sucralose, same as Splenda, in mine, and I make it with regular milk instead of water. if i was going to be bad, though, i'd put butter and brown sugar on it. weirdly enough, the latter mush is no better than the first one. it tastes so good, i could eat it every day.

and often when i make hot cereal, i'll toast a piece of Ezekiel bread to go with it, and use the bread as a spoon!

that is shockingly high in protein grams, isn't it!? sounds like a good breakfast for weekdays. I estimate the calories at about 300 with the maple syrup and about 250 or so without.

So coincidental! I was actually comparing Malt-O-Meal to Cream of Wheat tonight (literally like 2hrs ago) for my liquids phase grocery list. I decided cream of wheat would be better because it's softer and had more calcium, but I was impressed with how much folate the M.O.M. had. I didn't notice the protein, but that's good to know!

The malt-o-meal itself doesn't have protien. It comes from the Magic Milk.
