My last hoorah

Since I cannot do the liver shrinking diet, and I am currently below my lowest BMI requirement, I have decided to have a “Last Hoorah” party. I am going to treat three of my lady neighbor friends out to dinner and drinks, and of course a Lyft ride.

Since my husband and I rarely go out the ladies are going to come up with some possible suggestions and we will choose from there.

We are going to do this on Wednesday, August 4th one week before my surgery, so I have plenty of time to work all that stuff out of my system!

My surgeon was actually on board with this!

Can't wait to get out and let loose!

My last hooray is tomorrow night! I will take pictures to share.

I may even do my video journal there. If I do, I will temporarily post it online for you all to get a good laugh.

I have made 5 rules for the night.

No talking about politics.
No talking about religion.
No talking about covid.
No talking the HOA.
No talking about my husband (he is the president of the HOA).

I can guarantee you the last rule will be broken, likely by me!

The ladies going with me have been neighbors with me for almost 20 years!

Anyway I am really looking forward to having a good time with some long time friends.

We had a great time, but my friends new me better than I thought. They knew something was going on and made me open up to them. So I did.

It is too hard to talk about here, but I will at some point. It isn't health related. I hadn't previously discussed it with anyone except my therapist. My friends were very supportive and understanding. It actually felt good to talk to someone else.

We laughed, we cried, we ate (I had scallops and pasta), we drank champagne, and I explained the whole RNY process to them. They had a lot of questions and were very, proud of me for having the courage to do this.

At any rate, I forgot all about making my video journal. It didn't turn out to be the night I planned, but in many ways it proved to be a much better night than expected!

Glad you had a great time Kathi and even more glad that they were all supportive. That's important. No worries about the video, but certainly for your own memories jot down your thoughts from the night. It will be fun to go back and read about it a year from now.

Kathi,
Wonderful that you could share with your friends. I did find most people were absolutely supportive and encouraging. People at work I didn't think ever even "saw" me have commented on my new look, I really didn't think anyone would notice.
You are a fantastic participant in this group, I love reading your posts.

BTW I actually wore the bikini in a real swimming pool! I think I had not been in a pool in 40 years. It was at friends with an 8ft fence too, but I invited myself over for a swim and they let me float around on a huge floaty all afternoon on my day off. It was wonderful. They have all these waterfall things that make a pleasant water sound in a salt water pool, heavenly! I wore a big sun hat and read one of my "get control of your emotional eating" books for a couple of hours. Bucket list thing after weight loss.

And I really didn't feel fat, imagine that! Wonder how that happened???
